RED SOX ROUT BROOKS 12-2
BROOKS, AB – The Regina Red Sox began their four game Alberta swing with a date in Brooks with the Bombers.
Regina jumped off the bus and right on to the score sheet with a four-run second inning. A Conner Reynolds home run ignited a second four-run inning in the fourth.
The Sox finished the game with 12 runs on 12 hits. Brooks managed two runs on four hits.
Regina born, Luke Lubiniecki chipped in two hits and three RBI for the Red Sox.
Jake Waters, the senior from Arkansas Pine Bluff, started his second game and pitched a gem for the victory. Waters went six innings with six strikeouts, four hits and two runs.
Regina is now 5-2 on the season. The road trip continues in Lethbridge Friday night.
ELSEWHERE
Melville 0 at Yorkton 4
Jubilee Park was filled with local school kids and the hometown Yorkton Cardinals did not disappoint the future WMBL stars. Yorkton picked up their first win of the season with a 4-0 shutout of Highway 10 rival Melville.
Yorkton banged out 14 hits while holding Millionaire batters to just four hits.
Cardinal starter Kody Rock was sensational on the mound. Rock tossed eight innings of shutout ball for the win. He struck out 16 while giving up just four hits. Cole Henley took the loss for Melville.
Cedar Park, Texas native Caden Rosholt led all Cardinal batters with three hits.
Austin Stokes was the lone bright spot in the Melville lineup registering three hits and a stolen base.
Melville fell to 3-4 on the season while Yorkton improved their record to 1-5.
Moose Jaw 3 at Swift Current 1
It took 12 innings to decide this great pitching matchup.
Credit the win to Moose Jaw’s Ben Dalke who not only opened the scoring with a homerun in the second, but also pitched four shutout innings.
Blake Adams put Swift Current on the scoreboard and tie the game with a homerun in the eighth inning. Pate Katechis doubled to center field which scored Zach Fascia and Adam Cook in the top of the 12th for the Miller Express victory.
Mitchell Robinson, from Golden, Colorado, pitched six solid innings for the Moose Jaw Miller Express. Robinson faced 24 batters giving up just two hits while fanning five. Swift Current’s starter James Smith went nine innings allowing eight hits and just one run before giving way to the 57’s bullpen.
Moose Jaw is now 2-4 and Swift Current is 4-2.
Okotoks 2 at Edmonton 11
Noah Gapp continues to dominate WMBL batters as he pitched a complete game, five-hitter against the Okotoks Dawgs. Edmonton won the contest 11-2 before 821 fans at ReMax Field.
Offensively Edmonton got multiple hits from five different players including a three-hit, three RBI performance from Marlon McLean.
Zack Hanna had two hits for Okotoks.
Starter Jared Spearing has a rough outing for the Dawgs giving up six earned runs and six hits in 2.1 innings.
Okotoks and Edmonton now sport identical 4-1 records in the Western Division.
