RED SOX SILENCED IN YORKTON
The Yorkton Cardinals ended a five-game losing streak with a 6-2 home victory over the Regina Red Sox on Friday.
Cardinal starter Bryson Spagnuolo ran his record to 3-0 with the win. The freshman from Santa Clara University had a very good start. He lasted seven innings allowing two runs on four hits and one walk. Spagnuolo also had three strikeouts.
DJ Depiero struck out five Red Sox batters in his two innings of work.
In his sixth start of the season, Jordan Scott gave up six runs on eight hits in the loss. The junior from Liberty is now, 3-2.
Kendal Daniels finished the final two innings for the Sox giving up a hit, a walk while fanning two.
Offensively Jordan Schulz had two of the five Regina hits.
Catcher Jake Davidson had three hits and an RBI for Yorkton. Bryce Mulcahy and Donovan Buechs each had two hits in the win.
At the end of the day, Regina and Swift Current are now tied for first place in the Eastern Division.
Regina, 19-9 has the day off Saturday and will visit Moose Jaw on Sunday afternoon.
