RED SOX SPLIT WITH MILLER EXPRESS

Game 1 – Completion of Suspended Game
The Regina Red Six and Moose Jaw Miller Express resumed play from a rain delay on June 14.  In the end, the Red Sox overcame a 4-2 deficit to beat the Miller Express 7-4 at Currie Field.

Regina pitcher Seth Sorensen picked up the win while Kobe Portilla was tagged with the loss for Moose Jaw.  Reliever Sam Brunner earned the Regina save.

Game 2 – Moose Jaw 12 Regina 1

In the regularly scheduled game of the evening, Moose Jaw defeated Regina 12-1.

The Miller Express raced out to an early lead, scoring five runs in the second inning and never looked back. Regina countered with a run in their half of the seventh to cut the deficit to 5-1.  Moose Jaw then added extra runs in the eighth and ninth to salt away the victory.

Landon Russo, the sophomore from Scottsdale Community College, made his fourth start of the year for the Red Sox. He was rocked for five runs in the second inning and lasted just five innings. Seth Sorensen, Skyler Henson, Chase Nistor and lefty Caleb Dunn also pitched for the Red Sox.

Grant Westmoreland, took the hill for Moose Jaw and threw 6.2 innings giving up eight hits and a run. The win was the first of the season for Westmoreland.

Ryan Lambrecht had a good night offensively for the Red Sox.  He was three for four with an RBI. Gabriel Montero was also a spark as he chipped in a pair of hits and a walk for the home team.

644 fans packed Currie Field to watch the abbreviated twin bill. Regina will take their 11-8 record on the road for a six game Alberta road trip. The Red Sox return to Currie Field on Tuesday, July 5 to host the Weyburn Beavers.
