RED SOX TOP 57’S 5-4 ON SUNDAY

The Regina Red Sox needed three runs in the sixth to overcome a 4-2 deficit and defeat Swift Current 5-4 on Sunday in the Frontier City.

Dylan Bells started on the hill for the Red Sox and earned the win. The freshman from Frank Phillips allowed four runs on nine hits over five innings. He also struck out three of the 25 Swift Current batters he faced.

Sam Cottingham-Beard threw three scoreless innings to pick up his first save of the year. 57s reliever Joey Machado took the loss.

Bryan Benz has another great day at the plate for the 57s. The Arlington, TX native had four hits including a triple and a home run.

Offensively for Regina, David Modler had a pair of hits and scored a run.

Regina now 3-3 has won their last two games. Swift Current dropped to 3-6.

The Red Sox return to Currie Field for a pair of games. Monday, June 11 the Sox will host the undefeated Weyburn Beavers and Tuesday Moose Jaw will visit the Queen City.
