RED SOX WIN 3 IN A ROW

In a battle of the top two Saskatchewan Division teams, the Regina Red Sox resumed their winning ways Sunday defeating Weyburn 5-4 in 10 innings at Currie Field. The victory was the third straight for Regina.

A Jordan Schulz single, stolen base and wild pitch put the winning run on third base for clutch hitting Tanner Stokey. He did not disappoint and drove in Schulz with an infield single that sent the 557 Red Sox fans home happy.

Centre fielder Zach Weatherford also continued his all-star season, both with his glove and bat. The, high energy, junior from Wright State had an amazing diving catch in the field while contributing two hits, two runs and two walks at the plate.

Newcomer Jesse Pratt made his WMBL pitching debut Sunday afternoon against the Beavers.  Pratt, a right-handed pitching prospect from Western Oregon, went four innings giving up five hits four runs while fanning four.

Andrew MacMahon came on in relief in the fifth and set the nine Beaver batters he faced down in order.  Mike Thill was summoned from the bullpen in the 8th inning and pitched three scoreless innings for the Regina win.

As a tribute to the Regina Pats, who were the game sponsor, the Red Sox wore Pats hats during the game.

The Red Sox will take their 18-20 record on the road for a pair of games in Lethbridge and two more in Okotoks. They will return home on Saturday, July 25 for a meeting with Melville.
