REGINA’S EISWIRTH JOINING WMBL OFFICE
Bernie Eiswirth has been named Vice President of WMBL Baseball Administration by League President Kevin Kvame.
“We are delighted to have Bernie join the WMBL League office,” said Kvame. “His extensive experience and leadership with one of the league’s flagship organizations, the Regina Red Sox, will be an asset to the WMBL.”
Eiswirth has been the Regina Red Sox General Manager since they joined the WMBL as an expansion team in 2005. He was also instrumental in helping build the Red Sox WMBL championship teams in 2011 and 2012. Eiswirth will continue to serve in his role as the Red Sox General Manager while he takes on his role with the league.
“I am excited to take on the challenge of being Vice President of the pre-eminent Summer College baseball league in Canada,” said Eiswirth. We are looking at several changes that will improve the WMBL and strengthen all of our franchises.”
Eiswirth has an in-depth understanding of the league and its business as he has sat around the WMBL board of directors table as a representative of the Red Sox organization since 2004.
The Western Major Baseball League (the “WMBL”) is Canada’s pre-eminent summer collegiate baseball league. The predecessors to the WMBL date back to 1948. Over the past 56 years the league has gone by such names as the Canadian-American Baseball League, the Northern Saskatchewan Baseball League, the Alberta-Saskatchewan Baseball League, the Western Canadian Baseball League, the Saskatchewan Baseball League and since 2000, the WMBL.
