REILLY OUT 10-12 WEEKS

Edmonton Eskimos quarterback Mike Reilly is expected to miss 10-to-12 weeks the result of a knee injury suffered in the club’s season-opening game.

Reilly was injured in the fourth quarter of Edmonton’s 26-11 loss Saturday to the Toronto Argonauts in Fort McMurray, Alta., after being hit by defensive lineman Cleyon Laing.

The Eskimos announced Tuesday medical tests confirmed Reilly sustained a torn posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), a partially torn medial collateral ligament (MCL) and medial meniscal tear in his left knee. The club added the estimated recovery time is approximately 10-to-12 weeks.

Edmonton resumes league action July 9 hosting the Ottawa Redblacks with backup Matt Nichols expected to start.

Another blow to the CFL and it's quarterbacks.

Brutal first week of the CFL season. Something the league doesn't want is its QB's injured. Durant and Reilly are two of the top 4 QB's in the league. Have to feel for all of them.

Edmonton is likely in worse shape than us. At least we have Glenn and a now second stringer in Smith that will get more reps. Speeds his development considerably.

Sucks to lose all these QB's. You always want the best players on the field. Two years in a row the CFL will have a less than ideal product to market to new fans and keep exiting ones happy.
