REPORT ON THE RAMS FORTHCOMING
REGINA, Sask. – A three-person team has been formed to explore the partnership between the University of Regina and the University of Regina Rams Football Club. The assessment will take place from this Thursday to Saturday, with a final report expected by late May.
“The University and the Rams organization have enjoyed a unique and successful community partnership since 1999,” University of Regina director of athletics Dick White said. “After 15 years, it is time to examine the relationship and plot a path and foundation to help ensure a positive future.”
The team consists of Clint Hamilton, Jim Hopson, and Dr. Jim Weese. Hamilton is the director of athletics at the University of Victoria, while Hopson is the president and CEO of the Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club and Weese is the Faculty of Health Sciences dean at Western University.
The assessment was initiated by the University of Regina with support from the University of Regina Rams Board of Directors. It seeks to provide both parties with a set of recommendations involving future direction and how the current relationship and operations may be enhanced.
Invitations to meet with the team have been extended to University of Regina and Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies senior administration and faculty, Rams coaching and administrative staff, University of Regina athletics staff and coaches, Rams Board of Directors executives and members at large, select senior Rams athletes and alumni, Rams major sponsors and medical staff, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Regina Thunder, Football Saskatchewan, and Regina High School Athletics Association.
Members of the Regina community are also invited to provide input to the panel. Submissions can be emailed to khs.dean@uregina.ca.
What's going on? Are there problems between the Rams and the University that made this necessary? Weird…
