REPORT: RIDERS SIGN BLAKE SIMS

Former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Blake Sims found himself without a team after everything settled this summer but now, he gets another shot and we know he will make the most of it.

Sims’ brother, Hunter, as well as his agent, posted on Wednesday that Sims had signed a contract with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League.

Sims went undrafted during the 2015 NFL Draft but did get a shot at mini camps with the Green Bay Packers and the Washington Redskins but ultimately didn’t receive an offer. Shortly after, he did sign a contract with the Toronto Argonauts but was cut a few short days later.

After reading Al.com’s report, this could be the chance that Sims needs with some of the trouble that the Roughriders are having. They started their season going 0-5 and some of the quarterbacks on the roster have suffered some injuries. They lost their starter Darian Durant to a season-ending injury during the opening game. Fifteen-year CFL veteran Kevin Glenn also went down to injury on Sunday and was placed on the six-game injury list.

Former Wyoming quarterback Brett Smith finished the game after Glenn’s injury and will reportedly get the start in the Roughriders next game. Former Tide player Vinnie Sunseri’s brother Tino is also on the roster.

I look forward to reading the intelligent comment from the Rod Pedersen on Thursday about the new quarterback and will not bother to read the opinion of the cheeseburger eating jabroni Mitchell Blair.

The cheeseburger jabroni Mitchell Blair needs to go or I will make you humble the old country way.

He sucks.

Sims was average at best for the Crimson Tide last year. But don't get me wrong, any guy recruited into the SEC and was part of the Alabama program obviously has talent. But he not only was ordinary in his regular season play, but also did nothing during the Championship game where the Ohio State QB stole the show…

But I guess beggars can't be choosers…

Go Riders,

The Roughriders can sign the man who walked on water as their quarterback and that still wouldn't help the situation he's being thrown into, Jauque's offensive team schemes.

For those wanting to get a better understanding of the culture of football in Alabama and the fans of the Crimson Tide, an excellent book to read – available from the public library or Amazon – is Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer by Warren St. John.

Weren't a lot of the same type of hype things written about Sunseri, Doege, Smith, Price and the Sasquatch?…blah…blah…blah. He was with Toronto but released. That Jim Barker doesn't know diddly about QB's right? He had to settle for Harris right! Then he has Mcpherson and Gale on the roster and Kilgore on the practice squad. I don't see the name Blake Sims anywhere. With Smith and Price in town, the move was entirely unnecessary and bit of a head scratcher. Considering Sims wasn't a standout in his senior season or any bowl game. I imagine Price is as confused… Read more »

to the poster calling people "assholes" ; what a classless individual you are! It never ceases to amaze me that folks with the smallest brains often have the biggest mouths. Incredulous. They have enough unproven guys around and I don't think they really needed one more. If we can't win and go 0-5 with the leagues top % QB and #1 offence, why would anyone even allow themselves to think we are going to beat a better talented and coached team. We will be using a guy who has never started in the CFL and we all seen how that… Read more »

It's just about numbers you clowns. It's a QB who has at least some amount of CFL football, no matter how small that amount is. Why bring someone in to teach them the game when this guy is just a filler for the next handful of weeks.

I hope the nickname 'Cheeseburger Jabroni' sticks to Mitchell Blair. That is gold.
