RIDERS ADD TWO COACHES

Copeland

Saskatchewan Roughriders head coach Corey Chamblin has added two coaches to the 2015 staff.

Jermaine Copeland will join the Riders as the receivers coach.

After a stellar 11 year CFL playing career, Copeland entered the coaching ranks in 2012 as a receivers coach with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. After spending one season in Hamilton, Copeland returned to school in order to complete his degree at the University of Tennessee.

Copeland’s CFL playing career began with the Montreal Alouettes in 2001, where he spent four seasons. He then joined the Calgary Stampeders in 2005 before being traded to Toronto in 2010 where he played his final two seasons. He is a two-time CFL All-Star (2003, 2009) and a two-time Grey Cup champion having won in 2002 and 2008.

Justin Chapdelaine will join the Riders as an offensive assistant.

After a four year career at Queen’s University, Chapdelaine signed with the Ottawa Redblacks in February, 2014 but was released prior to training camp.

Chapdelaine spent last season as the running backs coach with Simon Fraser University.

Some great signings till now. I am sure that Copeland has much to share unless our receivers start exhibiting some of the end zone antics He and Nik Lewis used to engage in. Justin Chapdelaine appears to be pure nepotism. Never even took a snap in the CFL.

Not sure what playing professionally has to do with being a good coach. Some guys are just really knowledgeable about the game, are good teachers but never had the genetics to get past the level they ended playing at.

I figure Dressler’s end zone celebrations to improve dramatically under Copeland.

Isn't Copeland know as Charmaine Copeland or Cope the Dope by most Rider fans

Nepotism=Cup half empty. I prefer to see the Young Chapdelaine's hiring as "cup is Half-Full". Another opportunity to develop aaa Canadian Coach for the CFL. Stamps gave Mueller an opportunity which people applaud – this is the same type of thing. Canadian Game – Canadian Coaches.

Freeman sounds like a great find by the Rider scouting department. It would be wonderful to have the Riders strike gold at linebacker with a fellow named Freeman.
