MONTREAL – The Saskatchewan Roughriders have traded Canadian fullback Spencer Moore to the Montreal Alouettes for a conditional eighth-round draft pick.
Moore, a 28-year-old Hamilton native, has been a member of the Roughriders since being drafted in the fifth round by Saskatchewan in 2013.
He caught eight passes for 63 yards this past season and added seven special-teams tackles.
“Spencer is a savvy player who will help both our offence and our special teams,” Alouettes general manager Kavis Reed said. “His size and ability to get open will help our offence better protect our quarterback, while being a viable option for the latter.”
Meanwhile, the Roughriders signed American defensive back Loucheiz Purifoy to a one-year extension, keeping him with the team through 2019.
The Roughriders acquired Purifoy in a trade with the Ottawa Redblacks in August.
Elsewhere, the Calgary Stampeders signed Canadian receivers Austen Hartley and Michael Klukas, American receiver Armanti Foreman and American linebacker Warren Long.
All four spent time on the Stamps’ practice roster in 2018.
The Toronto Argonauts also signed a Canadian, inking offensive lineman Alexandre Gagnon.
The 26-year-old will be looking to make his CFL debut after getting cut by the Stampeders in training camp this year.
