RIDERS EXTEND DAN CLARK, NOT CONSIDERING GLENN TRADE

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today national offensive lineman Dan Clark has signed a two-year extension with the team to remain under contract through the 2017 season. As per club policy, financial details of the contract were not released.

Clark (6’2 – 310) is currently in his fourth official CFL season with the Green and White after originally signing with the team in 2009 out of the Regina Thunder junior football program.

The 27-year-old Regina product has started all eleven regular season games at centre this season. To this point, Clark has played 52 career regular season games, starting 21, seeing action at both guard and centre.

He won his first career Grey Cup with the Riders in 2013.

** Meanwhile Roughriders General Manager Jeremy O’Day appeared on 620 CKRM’s SportsCage to discuss the rumours of an impending trade with Hamilton involving quarterback Kevin Glenn.  The Ticats could be in the market for a veteran starter after Monday’s news that Zach Collaros is gone for the season with a torn ACL.

“We haven’t had any discussions with any other teams regarding a trade or anything like that,” O’Day explained.  “As we go moving forward right now, Kevin is our quarterback.”

O’Day was further asked if Kevin Glenn factors into their long-term plans past the 2015 season.

“That’s a question that’ll be answered down the road,” O’Day said.  “That’s not something we’re gonna over-evaluate right now.  Right now we’re just focused on this year and right now we’re just focused on getting a win.  It starts with one and Kevin is the guy we’re gonna go with.”

What do you expect a GM to say?
Certainly not what the local media types, with nothing better to do, want to hear.

How many games has Kevin Glenn won this year?

KG should be traded for prospects and picks. We're never going to move forward if we don't start planning for the future. It bit Taman in the ass and it'll do th same to JO if he's not careful.

No doubt Rod filled his pants after the news King George is doing concert gigs in his favourite town, Vegas. What could beat that?

Glenn is no different than the rest of the Riders vets. Who has a need for that type of players, can that player help them, and what would they have to give up for that player? A 1-11 team doesn't have that much bargaining power when it comes to peddling some of their players. For a "meh" type trade there is no point. You can get as much in the off season as now. Any number of teams will want one of your best assets but they are usually unwilling to pay for them. Glenn has some value because there… Read more »

Sounds like comments from a rookie GM looking to deal some veteran assets to see if he can make his team better in the future.

ACL injury – we going to put the foil on, wrap it in white hockey tape, disguise it bit. Then Zack will continue on to play this year in the show winning MVP and the coveted GC.. End of story.

Now that's Tiger Cat Tough.

So the Riders FINALLY admitted today that Shea Emry has been out with a concussion all along. I think everyone already knew that. Still calling it a neck injury Rod ?

Trade Kevin Glenn. Trade Joe Schmoe. That's your answer? FYI, it takes two parties to make the trade work.

Re: Shea Emery.
Did Taman/Riders trade for damaged goods?? Sounds like par for the course with this organization.

Ricky Foley – most overrated player in Rider history. So valuable because he is a funny outspoken entertaining guy.

I want football players.

Watch him play. He only gets coverage or broken play sacks.
