RIDERS FIRE OFFENSIVE COACHING STAFF

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced Tuesday that Offensive Coordinator Jason Maas has been relieved of his duties. Run Game Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach Stephen Sorrells and Receivers Coach Travis Moore will not have their contracts renewed.

Craig Dickenson will return in 2023 for his fifth season as the head coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders after being named the Club’s 47th Head Coach on January 19th, 2019. With Dickenson at the helm the Club has posted a 28-22 record, hosted two home playoff games, won the first playoff game in new Mosaic Stadium on November 27, 2021, and in 2019 led the team to first place in the West Division for the first time a decade. He was also the 2019 West Division nominee for Coach of the Year.

“Craig is an excellent coach, a strong leader and truly represents the values of the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club,” said Vice President of Football Operations Jeremy O’Day. “Throughout his last four seasons I have watched as he worked hard to bring out the best in our players on the field and off the field. I know he is committed as I am to bring a championship caliber team to the field in 2023.”

O’Day will also return for his 25th season with the Roughriders and fifth year as the Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager. O’Day began his career as a Roughrider player in 1999 and joined the football operations staff in 2011. He is a three-time Grey Cup Champion, winning two in Saskatchewan – one as player in 2007 and one as Assistant General Manager in 2013. He was named Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager on January 18, 2019, after 22 years in Green and White.

“Jeremy is a lifelong Roughrider, who cares deeply about the success of the organization and knows firsthand what success means to our fan base,” said Reynolds. “He is a proven winner throughout his career, and I wholeheartedly believe he has the talent, knowledge and vision to move forward and build a winning team in 2023.”

Both Dickenson and O’Day are under contract with the Club through the 2023 season.

Yippee yahoo 🎉🎊🎊🎉 what a great day in Riderville. I think Jason Maas threw Cody under the bus and benched him rather than owning up to his own shortcomings. Dickie had given him sole control over the offence, big mistake. Cody, please please re-sign, your nemesis is gone.

Hardly earth shaking. After getting a MOP performance out of Fajardo, McAdoo was shown the door as soon as Maas became available. That’s karma coming back to bite you. Maas may turn out to be the luckiest guy in the room come next year. I don’t have much faith in the current brass to fix an OL problem which has needed fixing for 2 years now. I wish them all the best but this may only delay bigger changes for a year. The elevator has been going down on this team for 3 years now. In 2021they drafted a DB,… Read more »

Ahh well yeah sir. 12 months on the clock starting now. Someone came up on a cap for out of scope/mgmt roles. This means they couldnt turf that outfit due to that system.

Who do you know will sign here either as a Coordinator, Free Agent, or extension?

Some people have no issue with walking around a house with no mirrors in it.

I am renewed for 2023 but rest assured it will be a 3-15 team.

77 sacks allowed….and that somehow that is on the Offensive Coordinator? You have a QB at this point shell shocked with PTSD and this Duke Williams is a dud……and somehow this is on the Offensive Coordinator. I get it. It is business and when push comes to shove the default will be – the big burly O Lineman/GM tells the guy with a pocket protector and 6 Man Football pedigree just exactly how and why this all fell apart…. This is in psych 101 called gaslighting where someone is convinced what is false is true and vice versa. It also… Read more »

Jason Maas has a genius Wonderlic Score of 43 out of 50. How do 3 nincompoops with a combined Wonderlic Score of minus 3 remain employed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders? A so called professional football club? Oh yeah! we’re talking Saskatchewan here, home of Country Hicks and Dimwitted Dimbulb Buffoons.

Just because you’re intelligent, doesn’t mean you’re smart. See, Jason Maas

Dickenson better send Chris Jones a big thank you for hiring so many coaches that one yr, then the league steps in and says no more with a cap. Only reason why him and O Day didn’t get canned was because of this cap.

Only thing good about Dickinson was his honesty …. “We aren’t a good football team, we weren’t good at 4-1 either”

It was obvious the offensive part of the coaching staff were toast, when do the offensive starters get axed?

Sad day in Ridervile …. Not enough we’re shown their pink slips.

What a mind boggling sad day in Riderville. I know I will definitely not be renewing my 4 season tickets and supporting this team/management after this ridiculous announcement. I might still watch on tv will definitely be spending my entertainment money on other things like camping.
