RIDERS LAUNCH 2016 FAREWELL SEASON
At a news conference in the Saskatchewan Roughriders locker room on Wednesday, the team announced its “Farewell Season” campaign for 2016.
The Roughriders have played at Mosaic Stadium/Taylor Field – or on those grounds – since the franchise’s inception in 1910 however they’ll be moving to the New Mosaic Stadium in time for the 2017 CFL season. Therefore, the 2016 season will be the Riders’ last in this facility.
The logo was designed by Regina’s Phoenix Group and a line of merchandise was unveiled at the news conference as well. The gear is on sale now in all Rider Store locations.
I can already see the Riders selling pieces of field turf for $100/sq ft at the end of 2016

Of course they are the Riders are going to milk this for every penny they can and yes that logo is very ugly!!

It will be interesting to see what the store sales are this year. I doubt the 2016 Farewell program is going to generate significant revenue. Get ready for more over priced items at the Rider Store.

I don't think the the Riders or the Regina Rugby Club as it was known then played at the Taylor Field site
In the early years. I think they played at Dominion Park at Broad and 4th Ave which was built for baseball and sat around 2000 spectators.
At University I interviewed Dinnie Hanbidge who played for the Riders during this period. I was working on a paper about the History of Football in Saskatchewan. I remember him saying they played at the Broad and 4th location,but I do not remember for how long they played there. He said they used to get Dressed at the Hotel Saskatchewan and walked over to the playing field. I did think the 1910 Taylor Field erra might have overlapped this though.
I think they played at Dominion Park from 1910 – 1915. During the war the City of Regina sold the land to Eatons and it became mail order facility later becoming a Sears warehouse, The Regina Rugby Club moved to the present site of Mosaic stadium in the 1920s. The park was called Hughes or deYoung I think. Therefore I don't think it's correct to say that the Riders have being playing at the site of Mosaic Stadium since 1910.
They played at both locations as they didn't yet have a permanent home field as we acknowledge it today. Also at the time there were multiple teams in the area so sometimes 'home' wasn't always home.
This is nothing more than an obvious 'take the bait' distraction from the real issue of whose going to be the next GM. Reynolds ass is on the line if he hires his buddy O'Day and we win two games in the next two years. Don't care. Reynolds get Chris Jones hired. I believe in you Reynolds to make the right decision. Don't let any of those Rider alumni push you around.
