RIDERS PRACTICE INDOORS
With temperatures hovering around the freezing mark, Roughriders Head Coach & GM Chris Jones moved Tuesday’s walk-through practice indoors to the Credit Union Eventplex.
DB’s Justin Cox and Ed Gainey were absent from the workout. Cox was dinged in Saturday’s 29-11 win at Toronto while Gainey returned home to the USA for the birth of his child.
Rider running back Joe McKnight was named a CFL Top Performer in Week 17 due his 150-yard rushing performance against the Argonauts. He figures to start a second-straight game Saturday when the Roughriders host Montreal (2:00 pm, TSN, 620 CKRM Rider Radio Network).
Meanwhile the Roughriders say they haven’t discussed the possibility of bringing in free agent receiver Duron Carter who was cut by the Alouettes on Monday. Carter is eligible to be signed by a
CFL team, however he can’t play for the rest of the 2016 season.
Wednesday’s practice is scheduled for 10:30am-12:30pm at Taylor Field.

It's easy to see that the new stadium was built with a total lack of understanding or foresight.
The "it cost too much" crowd lead by a previous CEO didn't want it because they were all old school; freeze your buns off mentality. The taxpayers are on the hook for 50 years of mortgage, so what would 55 years mean? A covered stadium would have provided more versatility as well a lower upkeep for the seats and interior that will be attacked by the elements six months a year. Stupid is the only word to describe this who fiasco.

Question 1: Where does the extra $250 million for the retractable roof come from?
Question 2: Who pays the extra $5 million per year in additional operating costs that come from heating/air conditioning the place? This is a far bigger cost than upkeep due to seats being exposed to the elements all year.
This is a fiasco only in the (small) minds of a shrill minority. The vast majority are thrilled with the new stadium.
So go crawl back in to your cave.
Where in this post does it mention the stadium. Give it a rest. It's done. If they do put a roof on it I hear it will be a fixed roof. No thanks. The stadium is intended for outdoor activities. It would suck going in a dome to watch a game on a beautiful sunny July day.

There was not and will not be ONE Rider game this year in which a roof would have been welcome. Glad that smart people were in charge. Will there be the odd game in the future where it would have been welcome, maybe, part hardly worth the extra cost to build and maintain. Football is an outdoor game.
There would have been trade shows, Concerts, Hockey games, etc etc that the roof would have been beneficial for….
Bands that do "Stadium Concerts" do NOT tour in the winter. What trade shows, what hockey games? Where is your business plan?

Stadium's purpose wasn't solely for Riders games. Think of all the business/trade shows/concerts, etc., lost with not having a roof. Plus, what good it this $300M facility in January?
This is a bunk argument. Events like that would be sporadic at best.
I'm sure the new stadium wI'll have all its preety lights on to stare at all winter.

Yep! Any revenue generated by this facility long term good for the city before the CFL's soon imminent demise.

I sure hope the Riders don't sign Carter but get all of our receivers locked in because the Argos and Als sure need some.
Maybe the soon to be snow covered stadium could be used as a winter dog park .
