RIDERS RELEASE QB BRYAN BENNETT

Multiple sources, including 3DownNation.com, say the Saskatchewan Roughriders have released veteran QB Bryan Bennett.
The addition of veteran James Franklin on February 12 to back-up Cody Fajardo pushed Bennett lower on the depth chart.
That, plus the emergence of sophomore Isaac Harker, made Bennett expendable. Harker went 23/28 for 231 yards in Saskatchewan’s 23-13 home win over Edmonton in Week 18. It was Harker’s pro debut, and a must-win game for the Riders.
In the West Final, Bennett rushed twice for nine yards. He came to the CFL in 2015 after a stint with the Indianapolis Colts, and has had stints with both the Roughriders and Blue Bombers.
