RIDERS SHIP CAPICCIOTTI, FULTON TO HAMILTON
HAMILTON – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats added two veterans for their playoff run, acquiring national defensive end Justin Capicciotti and international offensive lineman Xavier Fulton in a trade with Saskatchewan on Monday.
The Roughriders received defensive lineman Linden Gaydosh, the first-overall pick in the 2013 CFL draft, international wide receiver Tommy Streeter and fourth and seventh round selections in 2017.
Capicciotti registered 24 defensive tackles, three tackles for loss and two quarterback sacks in 14 games with Saskatchewan in 2016. In 71 career CFL games with the Edmonton Eskimos (2012-13), Ottawa Redblacks (2014-15) and Roughriders, the 6-3, 235-pound Toronto native has recorded 132 defensive tackles, 12 special teams tackles and 27 quarterback sacks.
He was a 2015 CFL East Division all-star with the Redblacks.
Fulton started in 75 games over five seasons (2012-15) with Saskatchewan, helping them win a Grey Cup title in 2013.
The six-foot-four, 300-pound offensive tackle also spent time with the NFL’s Washington Redskins, San Francisco 49ers and Indianapolis Colts in 2010 and the United Football League’s Virginia Destroyers in 2011.
Gaydosh, a 6-4, 298-pound lineman from Peace River, Alta., signed with the NFL’s Carolina Panthers in May, 2013 before joining Hamilton midway through the 2014 season.
His promising career has so far been derailed by injuries, including an Achilles injury that caused him to miss the 2015 season.
He made just one appearance for the Ticats this season.
Streeter joined the Tiger-Cats practice roster in August and has yet to play a CFL game.
The Ticats also signed international free agent wide receiver Kevin Elliott on Monday.
Elliott registered 23 receptions for 294 yards and two touchdowns in eight games with the Toronto Argonauts in 2016 before being released on Oct. 3.

We know about the players we sent over, but tell is about the two we gained. Gaydosh sounds like a good exchange for Capicciotti (easier to spell to). What does Tommy Streeter bring to the table? Cool name, but is he great?
Big X is gone? Geez, I liked the guy. It was a thrill to watch him and John Chick go at it a couple of games ago.

Looks a lot like a "cap" move. Sorry to see Fulton go and wish him all the best…still remember him coming out of the tunnel during the 2013 Grey Cup!! Capiciotti just never seemed comfortable in Jones's system and with the addition of Jefferson something had to give. 4th and 7th round picks are a shot in the dark, too bad it wasn't a 1st or 2nd round pick instead. Makes sense, good trade. Mr. Jones astute observations long term headed in the right direction. Capicciotti the Riders off season acquisition turned out to be good return, too bad he didn't pan out with Sk. but he will flourish with the Tiger Cats closer to his home town. Fulton getting getting up in age but a able veteran ready to contribute immediately to Hamilton's cause in it's pursuit of a Grey Cup Championship 2016.
Fulton lives here and married a local girl.
Just a rental player for the rest of the year and potentially some playoff money for X.
Sounds like a salary cap move to me too. Lots of DE's still here but who's going in for X? Gaydosh may fit in rotation with Mrabure and Henry. Hope he's not a Shomari Williams 2.0, and Streeter might be needed for injuries to Fuller and Holley?? In any case, I see these moves as positive in trying to improve the team going forward. Very sad to see Xavier Fulton leave…I'm sure Durant won't like that too much. He was our best O lineman this year. Wish him well in the future.
It was only a matter of time till Capiccotti was let go…didn't live up to expectations.
Capicciotti was frustrating, it seemed like he had no 'try'.
Fulton was adequate, but if you're going to employ an import on your O-line he'd better be real good.
If either of those draft picks produces a serviceable Canadian, we win the trade.
Capicotti wasn't living up to his salary so that's a no brainer to me, especially with the addition of Jefferson. Gaydosh could be a big presence in the middle which the Riders need.
As far as Fulton it's too bad. He's been a good player here for years. hopefully Streeter can be an impact guy on what is now a very deep receiving core. I think going into next year this is a pretty good squad. Jones' biggest priorities will be locking up DD and bringing in some upgrades on the O line I think

Sad to see Xavier Fulton go, he's been great for the Riders, best of luck to him. Justin Cappicotti seemed really pumped to be here in off season but we never got the best out of him, good luck to him as well.It's official Riders are out of playoffs but a lot of good things can still happen this year . We're enjoying watching this team develop.
Cap should do well playing with Chick, oops! Cap should play well on same dline as Chick. Liked Xman wish him well. Two draft picks are key to this trade.
Capicotti was a dissapointment didnt live up to expectations. tough to see Fulton go but probably both age, salary and being and import didnt work in his favour. They have some younger o linemen on the Roster and probably Best aned Labatte are coming back so they had to do something here.
Next year you boys will see how they do…could be good but could be a crash and burn…but as for this season it is the big good-bye until next…your welcome from Edmonton. Can't wait to see Vidal Hazelton in the Green and Gold…will be announced soon. Derel Walker, Adrius Bowman, and now Vidal Hazelton
