RIDERS SIGN GREG JONES

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced international free agent linebacker Greg Jones has signed with the team. As per club policy, details of the contract were not released.

Jones (6’0 – 242) has signed with the Riders after spending the last two seasons with the Toronto Argonauts.

Last season the 27-year-old Michigan State product registered a team leading 98 defensive tackles and 17 special teams tackles starting all 18 regular season games on his way to being named a 2015 East Division All-Star.

Prior to arriving in the CFL Jones spent two seasons in the NFL playing six games with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2012. He also played 16 regular season games – with five starts – and four playoff games with the 2011 Super Bowl champion New York Giants.

Greg Jones and Jeff Knox Jr. are going to be one heck of a line-backing DUO. The Riders key signing in creating a championship caliber defense.
