The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today that non-import defensive lineman David Lee has signed with the team. As per club policy financial details of the contract were not released.

Lee (6’4 – 247) will be entering his third CFL season after originally signing as a free agent with the Toronto Argonauts prior to the 2012 season. The Toronto native played 16 regular season games as a rookie recording six defensive tackles and five special teams tackles. He also dressed for both playoff games and the Argo’s Grey Cup victory.

Last season, the 23-year-old played 15 regular season games, recording 14 defensive tackles and two quarterback sacks. He added two defensive tackles and a quarterback sack in the 2013 Eastern Final.

Prior to entering the CFL, Lee played four seasons at the University of Western-Ontario picking up 2011 First-Team OUA All-Star honours after totaling 34.5 tackles, six sacks and an interception in eight games.

Will go by quietly but a quality signing. Provides depth behind Foley and is an upgrade on the loss of Zach Evans.

We lost some good players no doubt but the Riders still have a high end core.
