RIDERS SIGN RUNNING BACK MALCOLM CYRUS

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today international running back Malcolm Cyrus has signed with the team. As per club policy, details of the contract were not released.

Cyrus (5’10 – 185) joins the Green and White after playing four seasons at Alabama State University. The 23-year-old totaled 2,903 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns on 488 carries while adding 646 receiving yards on 59 receptions through 43 career collegiate games. As a senior, Cyrus was named 2014 SWAC Co-Offensive Player of the Year after piling up a conference leading 1,662 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns.

Cyrus recently attended the Riders free agent camp in Montgomery, Alabama.

Always searching and hoping for the next Kory Sheets … would be nice to strike gold twice in the same decade. Cyrus has the bonus feature of being right out of college. (I wonder if his nickname will be radio).

Saskatchewan Roughrider Football has now legitamitly turned the corner and are now truly a bonofide professional sports franchise. Now if only Winnipeg and Edmonton would follow suit.

Wonder what the inside goods are on this fellow? Why would he not wait till after the NFL Draft? With all these credits you would think worst case scenario he would be a late round pick……maybe hoping for a special year then jump to NFL as a free agent. If so someone did a good job of recruiting.
