RIDERS SIGN THREE CANADIANS
The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today they have signed non-import receiver Mitch Thompson, non-import running back Andre Lalonde and non-import linebacker Tyler Greenslade. Financial details of the signings were not released.
Thompson (5'9 – 185) attended training camp with the Riders and spent last season on the practice roster as an eligible junior non-counter.
The Regina product played the 2013 season with the PFC's Regina Thunder where he collected 35 receptions for 526 yards and five touchdowns. The 21-year-old added nine catches for 189 yards and two touchdowns as the Thunder won the CJFL Canadian Bowl.
Lalonde (5'9 – 230) also attended training camp last year with the Riders before returning to the Saskatoon Hilltops for the 2013 season. The 22-year-old Saskatoon native had 182 carries for 1,367 yards and seven touchdowns in eight games, before adding 145 yards and three touchdowns on 32 carries in two playoff games.
Greenslade (6'1 – 215) joins the Green and White after spending the last four seasons at the University of Alberta. The Edmonton native finished the 2013 season with 48.5 defensive tackles, two interceptions, and one forced fumble in eight regular season games. In four seasons with the Golden Bears, he recorded 135 defensive tackles, three fumble recoveries, five sacks and three interceptions.
