RIDERS TO ADD HAIDARA
In his weekly radio appearance on 620 CKRM’s SportsCage on Monday, Saskatchewan Roughriders GM Brendan Taman disclosed that the team will be adding veteran national receiver Seydou Junior Haidara to their practice roster.
Haidara was a Vanier Cup champion in 2012 with the Laval Rouge et Or before being drafted in the second round of the 2013 CFL Draft by the B.C. Lions. The Quebec City product spent time with the Lions in the 2013 and 2014 seasons before being traded to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in May of 2015 for a fifth round draft pick.
The 6’1″, 215 lb wide receiver has seven career receptions in the CFL.
The Roughriders plan to announce their practice roster Tuesday morning, just before they open Day 1 of their practice week at Mosaic Stadium at 11:30. Taman said the club has a total of 10 spots to be filled on their PR.
A good insurance to back up WR the Canadian back-up in case of injury.
And can play special teams which is valuable too … 16 tackles as a rookie in 13.
So?, Anyone else being added to the practice roster?
Or has everyone refused?
There is some really good National Talent out there when the Cats can release a guy like Haidara. He is/has developed into a solid young National receiver.
What makes him even more valuable is that he is a top tens player. For a WR he is a top coverage teams player.
A reason why a Pierchalski was released and asked to be a PR player. The reason like Woldu a veteran Teams ace also released.
He should be on the 44 sooner than latter. Taking a spot on the National Roster as Teams player and also doubling as another National Rec.
