RIDERS TO BID ON 2020 GREY CUP

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are looking to bring the Grey Cup game to Mosaic Stadium for the first time in 2020 – which would coincide with the team’s 110th anniversary.

Riders CEO Craig Reynolds let it be known to the Voice of the Riders Rod Pedersen during Monday’s Sportscage that the team will make a bid to host the game with that bid having to be submitted to the league either later this month or early November.

“We’ve been working on this for a while.” Reynolds said. “We’ve been wondering when the right time is for the Riders to bid for the Grey Cup and showcase Mosaic Stadium to Canada and the world.  The 110th anniversary is a milestone year for the team so we are going to put together a strong bid and hopefully bring the game back to Regina in 2020.”

Every Rider fan knows what happened the last time the Grey Cup game was played in Regina.  On November 24, 2013, over 44,000 fans crammed their way into Taylor Field to watch the green-and-white defeat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats by a score of 45-23 to bring the team its fourth Grey Cup.
