I wish Chris Jones and his staff all of the success in the world. I am most impressed with how the business is done with him. There seems to be no gray area at all. A decision is made and He sticks with it. I am looking forward to a great 2016. As someone said before, the 2015 season is now a distant memory.Polkabill from the Peg

There will be serious action by the league in due time as the result of the Riders actions to get their coaches. This effects the whole league. Action will be taken never fear.

And it will happen in spite of the stupid comments by posters trying to justify the riders action.

Now these are the guys you would want to do battle with in the CFL .. or to have along with you for a stroll through North Central Regina.

Of course they came to the riders – they needed a job as the new HC probably was not going to keep all of them with the EE DUH!!!!

So I think this entire situation is the biggest coup in CFL history. Kudos to Mr. Reynolds.

This is another good move on behalf of the Roughriders Football Club. Congratulations and welcome new staff members to Saskatchewan. One has to wonder how far back the club would have been at this juncture if they had hired Jeremy O'Day as the general manager. Who were his head coaching canidates interviewed during his interm gm role during Grey Cup week 2015 and the plans moving forward to the future. Highly probable most of last year coaching staff would have been retained with a continuence of unacceptable on field status quo losing inherited of the past regime. VP/GM/HC Chris Jones… Read more »

@BCLionsDen

In effect what the @CFL has done is sent all teams to the corner for a time out…with 8 of them claiming "The #Riders started it!" #CFL

All of these assistant coaches' contracts in Edmonton were expiring on December 31st !!!!!

Riders didn't do anything wrong. Jones could have waited and took them all on January 1st. Then what would you have bitched about??

Per Gary Lawless: Jeffrey Orridge imposes a moratorium on ANY coaching moves from one club to another unless approved by the #CFL

WILL THE CFL SQUASH THE RIDERS COACHES MOVES FOR THE GOOD OF THE LEAGUE ??????

Not likely as they are not under contract in another 2 weeks.

But Thorpe to Edmonton, sounds like it might be squashed, as he had 2 years left on his contract.

"No it actually doesn't matter now" with Craig Reynolds/Chris Jones in total control of the franchise. New exciting on field direction something to look forward 2016 plus. Now the product has to produce. Here's hoping to all good things for Saskatchewan Roughriders Football and they get back on track to a winning again for the long term.

Merry Xmas/Happy New Year to all.

Saskatchewan Eskimos?

I believe the commissioner's moratorium is mainly in response to Noel Thorpe retiring from Mtl with 2 years remaining on a contract so he could move to another team to coach.

Squash the Riders coaches moves? The one where Chris Jones was granted permission and set free by the Eskimos? Or the ones where the assistant coaches all had expiring contracts on Dec. 31st and were also granted permission to leave? Or John Murphy who also had an expiring contract on Dec. 31st?

It is not a big deal for coaches to leave in mid December when their contracts are expiring. They are all gone for holidays at this time of year anyways and have been paid out their salary.

"look at all thoee traders im predicting that the sliders will be all bottom feeders for many more years to come.Cant sat i feel sorry for the worst franchise in all of team sports, their fans deserve the worst." I'm predicting your grammar-and-spell checker exploded after those lines were written 🙂 You do touch on some relevant points, though – some (not all) of the Rider fans can be arrogant. And it’s true, the organization throws around a lot of money. Finally, the fans shouldn't expect too much in 2016 – unless all of these handsomely-compensated coaches and managers can strap… Read more »
