RUSH, BANDITS SWING TRADE
Saskatchewan Rush General Manager Derek Keenan bolstered his club’s offence on Wednesday in announcing a trade with the Buffalo Bandits that sees forward Dan Lintner coming to Rush Nation, pending league approval.
The Rush acquired the 29-year-old right-shot along with a second-round pick in the 2023 NLL Entry Draft from Buffalo in exchange for defenceman Justin Robinson and a first-round pick in the 2021 NLL Entry Draft. Saskatchewan gave up its own first-round pick at 13th overall, but still has the seventh and eighth overall picks acquired in trades with Colorado and Philadelphia, respectively.
“We are really happy to acquire Dan Lintner,” said Keenan. “This trade solidifies the right side of our offence as Dan’s style of play suits our offence to a tee. He’s very familiar with our systems and has played with a number of our offensive players in the past and players on the Rush in general.
“It’s tough giving up a good young player like Justin Robinson, but it came down to being the only way we could get this done.”
Lintner is certainly no stranger to many wearing the Rush green, including GM Keenan and Head Coach Jeff McComb, who had him on their benches at both the junior and senior levels. Lintner and Rush star Mark Matthews were part of the 2011 Whitby Warriors lineup that captured the Minto Cup Junior ‘A’ national championship. When the Warriors won it again in 2013, Lintner played alongside the Rush’s Ryan Keenan and was named the tournament’s most valuable player. Lintner’s junior career wrapped up 228 goals and 368 points in only 96 games. The Courtice, Ontario, product has also previously played with the Rush’s Chris Corbeil, Kyle Rubisch and Holden Garlent.
Lintner was picked eighth overall in the 2015 NLL Entry Draft and spent four seasons with the Toronto Rock. The 5-foot-9, 185-pounder set career-highs across the board with 20 goals, 17 assists, 37 points, 60 loose balls and eight caused turnovers during the 2019 season, but was scooped up by the Rochester Knighthawks in the sixth round of the 2019 NLL Expansion Draft.
A former member of the Cornell University Big Red, Lintner played nine games in 2020 for the Knighthawks and was then traded to Buffalo. During the pandemic-shortened season, he totaled seven goals and 14 assists for 21 points in 11 games combined between the two teams.
In 64 career NLL regular-season games, Lintner has registered 69 goals and 59 assists for 128 points, and added six points in five playoff games.
