RUSH COMING HOME UP 1-0 IN CHAMPIONS CUP FINAL
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Ben McIntosh’s second goal of the game was the winner as the Saskatchewan Rush beat the Buffalo Bandits 11-9 on Saturday night in Game 1 of the National Lacrosse League championship series.
The Rush lead the best-of-three set 1-0 and can clinch their second-straight Champion’s Cup at home on June 4.
Zack Greer, Mark Matthews and Robert Church also scored twice for Saskatchewan. Jeff Cornwall, Jarrett Davis and Adrian Sorichetti added the others.
Dhane Smith had a hat trick for the Bandits with Ryan Benesch and Anthony Malcom chipping in with two goals apiece. Alexander-Kedoh Hill and Mark Steenhuis rounded out the attack.
Aaron Bold made 43 saves to earn the win in net. Anthony Cosmo turned away 41-of-52 shots in defeat.
The Rush were 2 for 3 on the power play while Buffalo converted on both its opportunities with the man advantage.
