RUSH SIGN FIRST ROUNDER AND ESTEVAN’S HAUX
SASKATOON, SK – The Saskatchewan Rush have signed 2020 NLL Draft 7th overall pick Marshall Powless and 92nd overall pick, Estevan’s own, Wyatt Haux to two year agreements.
Marshall Powless, LF – 7th overall, Six Nations
“He was not an off-the-board pick for us. We got the player we wanted. He’s highly skilled, a very smart player with tons of upside.” – Rush GM Derek Keenan
Powless, who declared early for the 2020 draft, has put up massive numbers wherever he’s played, perhaps none more prevalent than in the 2019 season with the Six Nations Rebels. During a year in which saw Powless win the league’s MVP honor, he notched 151 points in 20 regular-season games and then posted 108 points in 21 playoff games as the Rebels took home the silver medal at the Founders Cup national championship. Powless won silver with the Iroquois Nationals at the 2018 World Juniors and picked up 11 points in just two games with the Six Nations Snipers in the Arena League.
Wyatt Haux, RT – 92nd overall, Saskatchewan
“We like good athletes and he’s a very good athlete, and he has a good mind for the game.” – Rush GM Derek Keenan
Haux wasn’t picked just because he’s from down the road in Estevan. He stands 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, is willing to get physical at both ends of the floor, and has a solid resume that includes two stints with Team Canada at the World Juniors, a trip to Czech Republic for the European Box Invitational, and a good run with the Saskatchewan Swat. He was scheduled to play Junior ‘A’ in St. Catharines until the pandemic hit, but he’ll come to camp and then likely look for a spot to play Senior ‘A’.
