RUSSIA REBOUNDS FOR 4-3 WIN OVER THE DUB
SWIFT CURRENT – Mikhail Maltsev scored twice, including the short-handed winner, as Russia reeled off four unanswered goals to beat an all-star team from the Western Hockey League 4-3 on Tuesday in the second game of the Super Series.
Artyom Maltsev and Andrey Altybarmakyan also scored for the Russian team. Mikhail Berdin made 29 saves for the win.
David Quenneville had back-to-back power-play goals as the WHL team built a 3-0 lead. Dillon Dube also scored with the man advantage. Stuart Skinner stopped 29 shots in net.
Russia did not score on its two power plays and the WHL was 3 for 6 with the man advantage.
The Russians will play the Ontario Hockey League in Owen Sound, Ont., on Thursday and in Sudbury, Ont., on Nov. 13. The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League then hosts the Russian team on Nov. 14 in Charlottetown and on Nov. 16 in Moncton, N.B.
