SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. – Jagger Firkus scored a hat trick to lead the Moose Jaw Warriors to a 5-3 win over the Swift Current Broncos in Western Hockey League action Friday night.
Atley Calvert and Ethan Semeniuk had the other goals for Moose Jaw.

REGINA – Six different Lethbridge players tallied as the Hurricanes topped the Regina Pats.
Hurricanes netminder Harrison Meneghin stopped 22 of 24 shots.
BLADES 4 HITMEN 3
CALGARY – Trevor Wong scored the game-winning goal at 1:17 in the third period as the Blades edged the Hitmen.
Fraser Minten, Vaughn Watterodt and Brandon Lisowsky also scored for Saskatoon.
REBELS 3 TIGERS 1
MEDICINE HAT – Kalan Lind scored a goal and added an assist as Red Deer downed Medicine Hat.
Ollie Josephson and Kai Uchacz also scored for Red Deer.
OIL KINGS 6 RAIDERS 4
EDMONTON – Six different Edmonton players scored as the Oil Kings topped the Prince Albert Raiders.
Oil Kings goaltender Kolby Hay stopped 36 of 40 shots.
ROCKETS 5 GIANTS 2
KELOWNA – Tij Iginla scored a hat trick to lead the Kelowna Rockets past the Vancouver Giants.
Andrew Cristall and Ethan Neutens had the other goals for Kelowna.
SILVERTIPS 11 CHIEFS 1
SPOKANE – Ben Hemmerling, Carter Bear and Caden Brown scored two goals apiece as the Everett Silvertips blew out the Spokane Chiefs.
Berkly Catton had the lone goal for Spokane.
COUGARS 3 WINTERHAWKS 2
PRINCE GEORGE – Riley Heidt scored the game-winning goal at 19:15 in the third period as the Cougars edged the Winterhawks.
It was Heidt’s second goal of the game. Bauer Dumanski also scored for Prince George.
THUNDERBIRDS 3 AMERICANS 1
KENNEWICK, Wa. – Seattle scored three first-period goals en route to a victory over the Tri-City Americans.
Sam Popowich had a goal and an assist for the Thunderbirds.
NHL
A thriller in Chicago. Seth Jones scored his first goal of the season in overtime to give the Blackhawks a 4-3 win over the New York Islanders. The Canadian teams had the night off. Minnesota beat Florida 6-4, New Jersey topped Columbus 4-1 and Carolina got by Detroit 4-2.
NLL
The Saskatchewan Rush (1-3) and Vancouver Warriors (1-4) will battle it out tonight at SaskTel Centre. Doors open at 5:30PM with faceoff at 7:00PM.
The Rush are coming off an 11-10 overtime loss against the Albany FireWolves on New Year’s Eve. Zach Manns had three goals and three assists to lead the way on offence. He currently tops Saskatchewan with 13 goals and 10 assists. Ryan Keenan had a hat trick in the loss, while Robert Church contributed with four points. Frank Scigliano made 46 saves, a season high for the B.C. product who boasts a .791 save percentage this year.

The Boston Celtics are no longer perfect at home. Jamal Murray of Kitchener, Ontario had 35 points to lead the Denver Nuggets to a 102-100 victory. The Toronto Raptors were idle. Former Raptor Pascal Siakam had 21 points in his debut with Indiana but the Pacers dropped a 118-115 decision to Portland.
CURLING
Sweden’s Anna Hasselborg remains unbeaten at the Grand Slam of Curling’s Co-op Canadian Open in Red Deer. She beat Winnipeg’s Kaitlyn Lawes 6-4 for her fourth win in a row. Ottawa’s Rachel Homan improved to 3-and-1 with an 8-3 rout of American Delaney Strouse. The playoffs begin Saturday and the finals are set for Sunday.
NFL
Round two of the NFL post-season kicks off today with a pair of divisional round games. Houston visits Baltimore this afternoon and San Francisco entertains Green Bay in the evening. Detroit is home to Tampa Bay tomorrow and Buffalo welcomes Kansas City. The conference championship games go next weekend and the Super Bowl is set for February 11th.
Meanwhile the Las Vegas Raiders are taking the interim tag off head coach Antonio Pierce’s title. He gets the full-time job after leading the Raiders to a 5-and-4 record after replacing Josh McDaniels in October. Las Vegas was 8-and-9 overall on the season. Pierce is the fourth interim coach the Raiders have elevated. The others were Art Shell, Tom Cable and Marty Feldman.
