SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) – Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 26 shots, Eetu Luostarinen got the go-ahead goal in the third period and the Florida Panthers beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1 on Friday night. Oliver Ekman-Larsson also scored a goal and Anton Lundell had two assists for the Panthers, who have won three of their last four games. Aleksander Barkov got an empty-netter to seal the win for Florida.

The teams paid tribute pregame to Patric Hornqvist, who won two Stanley Cups with the Penguins in his 15-year NHL career and ended that run with three seasons with the Panthers. He retired after last season and is now a part of the Panthers’ front-office staff as scouting and development consultant.

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) – Evan Bouchard had two goals and an assist and Edmonton got its sixth straight win, 4-3 over the Minnesota Wild. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl each had a goal and an assist, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had four assists as for the Oilers, who have won nine of 12. Stuart Skinner had 17 saves.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Yegor Chinakhov scored twice in the third period, Jet Greaves stopped 41 shots for his first NHL victory, and Columbus snapped a three-game skid, beat St. Louis 5-2.

 

 

WHL

BRANDON, Man. – Fourteen-year-old Jaxon Jacobson scored twice in his Western Hockey League debut and the Brandon Wheat Kings went on to beat the Moose Jaw Warriors 5-4 in the shootout on Friday.

Roger McQueen, Dominik Petr and Jayden Wiens scored in the shootout as Brandon (14-11-5) won its fourth straight. Brett Hyland and Nate Danielson had goals in regulation time.

Carson Bjarnason made 27 saves and turned aside 7 of 9 skaters in the shootout for the win.

Brayden Schuurman struck twice for Moose Jaw (17-11-2), while Atley Calvert and Jagger Firkus also found the back of the net.

Goaltender Jackson Unger stopped 36 of 40 shots.

RAIDERS 4 HITMEN 3

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – Ryder Ritchie’s winner came at the 6:34 mark of the third period as the Raiders shaded Calgary.

Sloan Stanick, Justice Christensen and Matej Kubiesa also scored for Prince Albert (16-13-2).

Sean Tschigerl, Oliver Tulk and Fraser Leonard replied for the Hitmen (11-14-3).

PATS 6 BLAZERS 4

REGINA – Brayden Barnett had a goal and an assist as the Pats defeated Kamloops.

Logan Peskett, Tye Spencer, Borya Valis, Tanner Howe and Jaxsin Vaughan also scored for Regina (12-15-2).

Jordan Keller scored twice for the Blazers (7-17-5), while Andrew Thomson and Connor Levis added singles.

SASKATOON – Egor Sidorov had a hat trick as the Blades doubled Red Deer.

Trevor Wong also scored for Saskatoon (20-8-1).

Samuel Drancak had a pair of goals for the Rebels (13-12-3).

TIGERS 8 OIL KINGS 2

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. – Oasiz Wiesblatt and Shane Smith had two goals apiece as the Tigers routed Edmonton.

Andrew Basha, Cayden Lindstrom, Hunter St. Martin and Hayden Harsanyi also scored for Medicine Hat (18-8-2).

Vojtech Port and Marshall Finnie replied for the Oil Kings (8-18-1).

HURRICANES 5 BRONCOS 3

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. – Logan McCutcheon had a goal and an assist as the Hurricanes beat Swift Current.

Kooper Gizowski, Miguel Marques, Leo Braillard and Trae Wilke rounded out the attack for Lethbridge (15-11-2).

Connor Hvidston, Caleb Wyrostok and Josh Filmon supplied the offence for the Broncos (14-12-3).

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – Ben Riche scored and had an assist as Victoria downed the Cougars.

Casper Evensen Haugen, Ryan Spizawka, Dawson Pasternak and Tanner Scott chipped in for the Royals (18-11-2).

Zac Funk scored twice and Riley Heidt added a goal for Prince George (21-8-0).

WINTERHAWKS 8 CHIEFS 5

PORTLAND, Ore. – James Stefan had a hat trick as the Winterhawks flew past Spokane.

Josh Davies, Marcus Nguyen, Marek Alscher, Josh Zakreski and Carter Sotheran scored for Portland (16-9-2).

Berkly Catton scored twice for the Chiefs (10-14-2), while Conner Roulette, Chase Bertholet and Hayden Paupanekis also had goals.

AMERICANS 4 THUNDERBIRDS 1

KENT, Wash. – Lukas Dragicevic scored a goal and added an assist as Tri-City topped Seattle.

Carter MacAdams, Jordan Gavin and Deagan McMillan rounded out the attack for the Americans (14-12-2).

Luca Hauf scored once for the Thunderbirds (11-12-1).

SILVERTIPS 4 GIANTS 1

EVERETT, Wash. – Ben Hemmerling scored twice as the Silvertips topped Vancouver.

Eric Jamieson and Dominik Rymon had the other goals for Everett (18-11-2).

Jaden Lipinski was the lone scorer for the Giants (11-16-2).

Veteran linebacker Darnell Sankey has signed a two-year contract extension with the Grey Cup-champion Montreal Alouettes, The Canadian Press has learned. Sankey was slated to become a free agent in February. Sankey had eight tackles and a sack in Montreal’s 28-24 Grey Cup win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Scottie Barnes had 31 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds for a triple-double but couldn’t hit a game-tying three-pointer as the Toronto Raptors fell to the Charlotte Hornets 119-116. Gordon Hayward scored 24 points and, Miles Bridges added 22 for hot-shooting Charlotte.
