Donovan Williams and Cat Barber combined for 52 points to help the Scarborough Shooting Stars (7-6) snap their two-game losing streak with a 105-99 win over the Saskatchewan Rattlers (5-8) on Friday. With the Rattlers leading 78-73 after three hard-fought quarters, a path to ending their five-game losing streak was in sight. However, Scarborough quickly flipped the switch in the fourth quarter as Barber and Williams dominated to extend their lead to as big as 12.

The U-S Olympic men’s basketball team will hold its first practice today in Las Vegas. The squad is looking to win Olympic gold for the fifth consecutive time. A four-day training camp will lead up to an exhibition opener against Canada on Wednesday.

Make it three straight defeats for the Toronto Blue Jays. They managed only two hits in a 2-1 loss to the Seattle Mariners. The last-place Blue Jays have dropped six of their last eight games.

After four losses to open the CFL season, the Winnipeg BlueBombers are finally in the win column. They defeated the Ottawa Redblacks 25-16. Ottawa quarterback Dru Brown left the game in the second quarter with a head injury and did not return. Calgary takes on Montreal Saturday evening.
