Cody Allen escaped a ninth-inning jam and the Indians pitched their fifth shutout this post-season, holding off the Chicago Cubs 1-0. The win gives Cleveland a 2-1 lead in the World Series. It was the first time since 1945 that the World Series returned to Wrigley Field. The Cubs put runners on second and third with two outs in the ninth before Allen struck out Javier Baez to end it.

The Tiger-Cats remain in second place in the CFL East after dropping a 29-26 decision to the Eskimos. Cam Talbot made 26 saves and Connor McDavid scored on a breakaway in the second period as the Edmonton Oilers blanked the Vancouver Canucks 2-0. Milan Lucic added an empty-netter for the Oilers, who have won five straight.

A big game for Dougie Hamilton. He scored twice and added an assist as the Calgary Flames topped Ottawa 5-2. And in Colorado, Shawn Matthias scored in the second period against his former team as Winnipeg edged the Avalanche 1-0. Michael Hutchinson stopped 37 shots for his third career NHL shutout.

The Cleveland Cavaliers staved off a late Toronto comeback attempt to beat the Raptors 94-91 at Air Canada Centre. Kyrie Irving scored 26 points, including the winning basket, and LeBron James added 21 for Cleveland in a rematch of last year’s Eastern Conference final. DeMar DeRozan had 32 points to lead the Raptors.

Toronto’s Patrick Chan landed a quad toe loop to secure him first place after the men’s short program at Skate Canada in Mississauga, Ontario.
