SHEETS BUSTED FOR POT POSSESSION

From the Estevan Mercury:

Kory Sheets has pleaded guilty to possessing marijuana and was granted an absolute discharge. He was represented by counsel but not present at the courthouse on Monday.

The Estevan RCMP pulled over the former Saskatchewan Roughrider on Highway 18 in Bienfait after they found him to be speeding in early March. Upon approaching his vehicle the arresting constable noted an odour of marijuana.

Asking Sheets about it, he produced two joints and another small canister, all of which amounted to about 6.4 grams of marijuana.

The constable noted Sheets also showed signs of drug impairment and a field sobriety test led to a 24-hour suspension of his licence, though Sheets’s lawyer noted there were no allegations or charges suggesting impairment.

Sheets was leaving Carnduff on his way to Regina, as he had finished a job in the small Prairie town and was heading back to the United States where he plans on working in the future.

He was released after his arrest on a $500 cash-bail recognizance, as he is a U.S. citizen, and has made a $300 charitable donation to Students Against Drunk Driving as part of the discharge arrangement.

The guy likes to party. I don't agree with him cruising around with weed. But I don't hate him for it either.

He's reminiscent of the character from the Eddie Murphy movie Life, "Can't Get Right" right down to the goofy grin and mannerisms.

If you think he's the only rider smoking weed you live in la la land. Nfl is thinking about lifting the ban. Get over yourself and remember your drinking habit is the exact same thing save for a clause on a piece of paper.

Why he should he be any different than any other oilfield worker in the Estevan area……..still a damn good football player, and we are all human and screw up, and would love to have him back if he doesn't make it down south……

I am truly embarrassed at some of the hateful comments here. The majority of Canadians want it legalized. As one police officer told me the other day 100 drunks 100 people smoking pot it's the drunks causing the problems. People criticizing him are beyond words, thankfully the huge minority.

WOW people, LOL, wow…. it's weed, who cares. As long as he puts the ball in the end zone, I could care less. On a related note, I heard Dressler was caught illegally downloading movies on the internet, I hope the Chiefs cut him and his hopes a dreams go unfulfilled, LOL

WOW….

For the record, that wasn't me that made that second post. Sure I don't agree with his actions. But people make mistakes and Sheets obviously made one. I don't think he should be crucified for it.

Canadian police association wants it decriminalized so to the first few posters saying image ruined and don't want him in green and white you both are so wrong and I as well am appalled at your disparaging comments.

Oh no! Not pot! What a joke. Nobody deserves to have their career ruined because they had a small amount of pot on them.

I don't smoke pot, but having something as harmless as pot cause be so potentially damaging to one's career is ridiculous.

What a waste of time and money. And yes, I will always welcome Sheets back to Rider Nation. It is sick how some "fans" turn their back on somebody so quickly for such an insignificant occurrence. Shame on the turncoat commenters who say that.

I think you guys are missing the big picture here. For example Brandon Browner missed most of the season last year for testing positive for marijuana. So now the raiders have a RB that is 3rd or 4th on the depth chart that has just be charged with marijuana with a 24 hour suspension (Meaning he was believed to be smoking it). What are the raiders going to do with a guy who if tested today would fail? The NFL really doesn't mess with borderline guys that mess up in anyway. Also the big deal locally is driving impaired. Speeding… Read more »

Lol they need to get over it, it's pop, not crack or heroin cocaine or booze for that matter, anything else that's physically addictive. I say get over it. But Americans do like thier conflict. Like to make mountains out of mole hills.

Not one fan I've talked to agrees with the few crazies here. And that's the key thing it's only a few people. Pot is all around us it's not go in away 2 states legalized it with more to come.

Wonder how this will effect his chances with the Raiders? NFL doesn't like bad boys.

Wait a minute, it took a pot possession charge for people to call Sheets out for what he is a piece of crap, but yet he can beat his girlfriend and nobody said nothing about that last season.
