SHEETS WORKS OUT FOR COLTS

“That went well :-)”

That’s what impending free agent running back Kory Sheets of the Saskatchewan Roughriders wrote on Twitter following his workout with the Colts in Indianapolis on Tuesday.  Sheets ( @Sheets24K ) is hoping to latch on with an NFL team once his CFL contract expires on February 15.
The Hartford, CT product made history this past season setting a Grey Cup rushing record with 195 yards in Saskatchewan’s 45-23 win over Hamilton in the CFL championship game.
Sheets had previous NFL stints with the Dolphins, 49ers and Panthers.
Meanwhile Sheets’ Rider teammate Alex Hall worked out with the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings recently and will have another with a different team in the coming weeks.  Hall finished second in the CFL sack race this year.
We are still waiting on word of an NFL deal for Roughrider star slotback Weston Dressler.

Hopefully Taman gets Sanders signed to a deal and Garrett as well. We should have some cap room with Shologan's salary off the books. Sheets is a special player but if Garrett and Sanders display the kind of ability they did at the end of last year then I think we'll be alright in the rushing department. Glad to hear Sheets' workout went well. He'll always be a Riders legend after what he's accomplished.

Strange how most other CFL'ers are already working out for teams while Dressler is still talking workouts?

Maybe his agent is still trying to actually land him a workout.

With Dressler they're not talking workouts. They're talking contract which is much more serious. Don't be surprised to see him in a Bear uniform next season. Whether he makes it past September is still to be seen.

I wish them both well but… Sheets – going to be 29 – already exhausted his practice roster eligibility down there so would need to get veterans salary and be placed on the roster….therefore training camp fodder at best. Sorry. Dressler – going to be 29 – anyone who believes he is 5'9 and 179 is nuts…go stand beside him sometime – lucky if he is 5'6 and 165….he would be the smallest player in the NFL other than maybe Holiday in Denver. He would no longer have the waggle so can he beat press coverage/jamming at the line consistently… Read more »

The Woz, Dressler – "He is not fast enough to he a returner…so traing camp fodder. Sorry." Man your "Two Faced" ! If he returns to Saskatchewan, what will your opinion be of him then? too slow? lost a step? you can bet sure as hell you would be giddy with joy jumping up and down pissing yourself and the very first person to comment demanding the Riders reward him with a big contract with a big phoney welcome back Weston. The guy is a great athlete. Hope he makes you eat your words and gets his chance to play… Read more »

You can't seriously believe an NFL team would just sign Dressler without even working him out first?

For those that think its Chicago because of Trestman – I guarantee Trestman doesn't have the first damn clue of who his management/scouts is looking at right now. At seasons end, may be a different story.

I wish both these guys the best – but some things don't add up for me.

Gotta agree with the Woz. I fSheets was NFL material he would have stuck there. If Dressler was NFL material, he would have been down there a few years ago. Old Father time is catching up to them. Unless they can get some decent bucks in the NFL, the Riders should give them some premium
bucks to stay.

While I buy the talk that Sheets will presumably not hang around, I can not, and will not doubt Weston Dressler.

He has been told he is too small his entire career. All he has done is prove people wrong and become elite at his position. That being said, I don't necessarily think he will become a star but Dressler has made a career out of proving his detractors wrong. I want him back as much as the rest of us but I have genuine concern regarding his future with the Riders and the CFL.

@ Woz

Woz – at 83 many of us think you've hung around to long on this Blog and are past your prime which is tough considering you never had one.

I am a very selfish person on this one because I hate to see sheets go anywhere . On the other hand I wish him the very best of luck and just hope that he will be back in Riderville for next years Grey Cup.

Well after playing on heart, both guys are thinking bank accounts now. They want some money and I can see them remain NFL PR fodder with the bigger money, than CFL starters for a fraction of the same. I don't think either can make or will make it, but I hope they determine that on their own terms. What bothers me is when will we, if we, get them back and at what price. Dressler can be replaced easy enough, but Sheets is a much rarer breed and the Riders should show him the money. Hopefully neither of them sell… Read more »

I would say that Sheets could be replaced easy enough with Dressler being a much rarer breed.

Everyone says that running backs are a dime a dozen. How many teams had game changing backs in 2013? TWO!
