1-NIPAWIN HAWKS 30-5-2-3
They are 19-0-1-and-1 in their last 21-games. The only thing they need to worry about is this: have they peaked too early?
2-BATTLEFORDS NORTH STARS 28-6-2-0
Stars do own an extra time win over the Hawks in recent days and are an astounding 16-1-and-2 on home ice.
3-MELFORT MUSTANGS 27-7-4-1
It’s hoped the acquisition of Ben Allen at the trade deadline gives them the added offensive dynamic up front.
4-NOTRE DAME HOUNDS 22-12-1-3
Hounds are 17-3-0-and-1 at home, but are not in a position to have home ice advantage in the quarters (they’d play Melfort in 4th vs 5th if playoffs started today).
5-WEYBURN RED WINGS 22-13-1-4
A modest four game unbeaten run as we head into next week, and 6-2-and-2 in their last ten.
6-ESTEVAN BRUINS 23-14-3-1
They lead the league in goals scored and the acquisition of Bo Didur, in goal, as calmed the goals against as well.
7-HUMBOLDT BRONCOS 21-14-3-2
Conceding nothing to the teams above them, the Broncos caught the biggest fish at the trade deadline, Nick Shumlanski, from Flin Flon.
8-FLIN FLON BOMBERS 15-19-2-3
Acted as sellers at the trade deadline, but the record is deceiving. Goalie Brenden Newton is 11-7-2-and-3, which means they have a chance when he’s in there.
9-KINDERSLEY KLIPPERS 16-16-3-2
It’s a tough division, but the Klippers have fallen short whenver an opening has presented itself to break away from mediocrity.
10-MELVILLE MILLIONAIRES 13-24-0-2
They’ve lost three straight, but there isn’t a lot to play for. Not much hope of moving up or down in the standings.
11-YORKTON TERRIERS 8-27-2-1
The level of pride appears to have gone up, which is a positive for the Terriers, who have put their fans through a lost season from day one.
12-LA RONGE ICE WOLVES 7-29-0-2
They’ve dropped seven in a row and fifteen of sixteen when away from home ice.
The Saskatchewan Jr A Hockey League (SJHL) is all set to host the first showcase against the Manitoba Jr A Hockey League (MJHL) at the Co-operators Centre in Regina, SK for Monday, January 15 and Tuesday, January 16.
The two-day showcase event will feature the top 120 hockey players from both provinces between the ages of 17 to 19 years of age. Top players were selected by a committee and the coaches within each league to make up 6 teams to play against one another (3 SJHL teams will play against 3 MJHL teams).
Kim Davis, the Commissioner of the MJHL stated, “The MJHL is extremely excited about the opportunity to collaborate with the SJHL by showcasing the top players in our league in a new event that gives our players a chance to showcase their skills and abilities for scouts from all higher levels of hockey. When discussing what the league could do to promote its players even more than it currently does, the two leagues jointly determined that an event such as this would fit the need for player and Scouts.”
President of the SJHL, Bill Chow, agrees with Mr. Davis fully and respectfully recognizes all sponsors for the showcase event. “With the help from all our sponsors, it has allowed a new opportunity between two separate leagues to come together and showcase their talents in front of the NHL, CIS and NCAA scouts. We’ve opened a new door and many opportunities in creating this exciting event.”
Tickets are $10 for adults and children are free. The SJHL/MJHL Showcase schedules is as follows.

Game 1- Team Gurbutt (MJHL) vs Team Schwartz (SJHL) 99/00’s. Time: 12:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
Game 2 -Team Zajac (MJHL) vs Team Mitchell (SJHL) 97/98’s. Time: 3:00 p.m. to 5:45 pm
Game 3- Team Belfour (MJHL) vs Team Kunitz (SJHL) 97/98’s. Time: 6:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
Tuesday, January 16th
Game 1- Team Schwartz (SJHL) vs Team Gurbutt (MJHL) 99/00’s. Time: 10:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
