SJHL POWER RANKINGS EDITION VIII
By: Mike Stackhouse
1-NIPAWIN HAWKS 32-5-2-3 (1)
Unbeaten in going on half a season (23 games).
2-BATTLEFORDS NORTH STARS 31-7-2-0 (2)
They’ve been great all season and have made a number of changes too that hasn’t really affected their overall performance.
3-MELFORT MUSTANGS 28-9-4-1 (3)
They’ve lost two straight. Must feel like an eternity.
4-HUMBOLDT BRONCOS 23-15-3-2 (7)
Newcomer Shumlanski has 5 points in 5 games. Wassermann, the 17 year old goalie, is back from impressive showing at CJHL Top Prospects Game.
5-ESTEVAN BRUINS 25-15-3-1 (6)
It’s the oddest, possibly most unexplained phenomenon of recent memory. The first place Bruins struggle against the cellar dwelling Terriers, who have won 9 games all year and 4 against Estevan.
6-NOTRE DAME HOUNDS 24-15-1-3 (4)
They’ve stumbled since the Showcase, no question about it. Two wins in five games, both against La Ronge.
7-WEYBURN RED WINGS 23-15-1-4 (5)
Despite last weekend’s failed opportunity against Estevan, they only trail the Bruins by four points and have two games in hand.
8-KINDERSLEY KLIPPERS 18-16-3-2 (9)
Klippers have won a couple in a row this week and are in the driver’s seat for home ice advantage in the Survivor Series.
9-FLIN FLON BOMBERS 15-19-3-4 (8)
They’ve gained four points on the Klippers over the last ten games and will need a better a performance down the stretch to overtake them.
10-MELVILLE MILLIONAIRES 14-26-0-2 (10)
Rode the goaltending of Colby Entz on Thursday to snap a five game skid.
11-YORKTON TERRIERS 9-29-2-1 (12)
Record against Estevan and Melfort: 6-4-1. Everyone else: 3-25-1-1. The Bruins and Mustangs are good teams! Unexplainable.
12-LA RONGE ICE WOLVES 8-31-0-2 (11)
Defeated Flin Flon last Friday, but have dropped nine of ten.
