SJHL POWER RANKINGS EDITION XII

By: Mike Stackhouse

1-MELFORT MUSTANGS 38-12-6
Time to give the Mustangs their due.  They are 7-1-and-1 against Nipawin.

2-NIPAWIN HAWKS 41-7-7
The Hawks haven’t exactly been blown away by the Mustangs though, going 2-3-and-4 against them.  Still, there has to be a mental block for the Hawks should they meet up with Melfort in the playoffs.

3-BATTLEFORDS NORTH STARS 40-12-2
They’ve won eight of ten and the defending champs are lurking in the weeds, so to speak.

4-HUMBOLDT BRONCOS 33-17-6
The Broncos have been as good as anyone in the second half, but they are 0-0-and-5 against the Stars, a team they haven’t had any success against in recent years.  They are also 0-and-6 against Nipawin.

5-ESTEVAN BRUINS 31-19-5
A quarter-final playoff series against Weyburn isn’t out of the question and the Bruins beat the Wings six of eight head to head meetings this year.

6-KINDERSLEY KLIPPERS 28-21-7
They’ll finish up the year with two tough games against the North Stars.  If they win one of them, they should be the sixth seed and would face Estevan in the quarters.

7-FLIN FLON BOMBERS 22-25-8
Bombers have gone 2-0-and-1 on their four in five road trip this week.  The top line of Hein-Hooper-Collin has not been effective either.

8-MELVILLE MILLIONAIRES 22-29-4
Only one regulation loss in their last ten.  It took awhile, but Devin Windle has what he wants for team make-up and they’ve become a very hard team to play.

9-WEYBURN RED WINGS 28-22-6
Shaky, but they deserve full marks for picking up points here and there to stay in the mix for the sixth seed.  Quietly, unbeaten in regulation over their last four.

10-NOTRE DAME HOUNDS 27-24-5
Reeling.  The long term injury to goalie Jacob Standen has hurt immensely.  Underaged rookie Riley Kohonick made his first start in a big game against Flin Flon last night.

11-YORKTON TERRIERS 13-38-5
Four wins in their last ten, including a victory over Flin Flon at the beginning of the Bomber road trip.

12-LA RONGE ICE WOLVES 10-43-3
Wolves have dropped four straight with two games left on the schedule.
