SJHL PRESIDENT VOWS TO STAGE 2020-21 SEASON
Things are looking up for fans of Junior A hockey in Saskatchewan. SJHL President Bill Chow sent this letter to league sponsors on Tuesday:
“To our valued corporate partners,
To the supporters of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). At this time of year, our normal would be the start of training camps for the SJHL. Unfortunately, with the current “new normal” we will not be starting the 2020-2021 season “YET”.
Unfortunately, the Corona Virus is about more than hockey. It is about ensuring the safety of everyone and ensuring that trying to return to the new normal is well planned.
As for a start to the 2020-2021 season, in discussions with Saskatchewan Government and their discussions with Saskatchewan Health there will be a start to the 2020-2021 season. The SJHL just does not have a date “YET”.
As the discussions continue, they are based on ensuring the safety of all concerned. It is also to ensure that once the season starts that we can complete the 2020-2021 season.
Through the discussions the SJHL has had, I am positively optimistic that a season of hockey will be played.
During these trying times, it is apparent that as driven as the people involved in the SJHL are, having patience with the process to the start of the hockey season is of the outmost importance.
The SJHL recognizes that you as a sponsor are showing great patience on the start of the 2020-2021 season and the SJHL is very appreciative of your continued support once the season begins.
As President of the SJHL, I hope you and your families are taking care and staying safe.
Sincerely Bill
William D. (Bill) Chow
President
Saskatchewan Jr Hockey League”
