SPEEDY B MAKES STRONG STATEMENT
If the Canadian Football League does indeed play in 2020, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats could be without top star Brandon Banks.
The reigning CFL Most Outstanding Player made it known on social media over the weekend that he won’t be playing this season due to Coronavirus concerns.
“(I don’t know) what they gonna do but I won’t put on a helmet till 2021,” Banks Tweeted.
Banks further went on to say he’ll play under the terms of his 2020 deal come “next season”. Regarding the predictable reaction caused by his initial comment, Banks indicated he’s not alone.
“You know how it goes,” Banks continued. “Soon as I say it, it goes viral but players been saying the same thing all week. Lol. But I understand because of who I am.”
Some CFL fans directed criticism towards Banks for his decision but the Kansas State product didn’t back down.
“Y’all send me hate mail cause I want to do what’s best for me,” Banks countered. “Y’all humans are sick! Go worry about your own life and let me live mine how I want!”
CFL players have until Thursday to accept or deny the proposal from CFL owners and governors regarding terms of a Return To Play.
