STAMPEDERS 35 LIONS 23

CALGARY – The Calgary Stampeders remain unbeaten at home this season after a 35-23 win over the visiting B.C. Lions on Friday.

Calgary improved to 9-3, sit atop the CFL’s West Division and is 7-0 at McMahon Stadium.

The Lions fell to 4-7.

Jeff Fuller and Tony Harrison had touchdown catches for Calgary. Running back Jon Cornish scored on a 16-yard carry and backup quarterback Bryant Moniz also scored on a one-yard plunge.

B.C. returner Chris Rainey scored touchdowns on punt and kickoff returns of 103 yards each. Lions running back Andrew Harris added a two-point convert.

Stampeders kicker Rene Paredes made all three field goal attempts, while Lions counterpart Richie Leone made two of three.

Rainey is good. Damn good. He's a perfect illustration of why Taman is gone. He would have fit the Rider game but we had a GM that didn't even know he existed.

No mention of BC's 3rd stringer, QB Jennings? He played pretty well I thought. Notice he also had interceptions in the end zone. Rainey is quite the find although he was with MTL last year and looked good. Guess all teams find players via others castoffs. Even the great Roy.

It’s going to take the Riders 2-3 years to recover from the decisions Taman has made.

Might be time to trade Getzlaf and Durant to an eastern team and start rebuilding the overall talent that is desperately lacking on the Riders.

The talent in the east is not that good or deep. Hamilton may be overrated and they have not won anything yet. I expect them to lose in the Eastren final. Sadly this will be a gimme Grey Cup for Calgary. Play the hand see what happens, it won't take much to turn 0 and 8 to 8 and 0 in this league and with these officials.
