STAMPS INTRODUCE CORNISH FLAKES
Coming soon to Co-op locations in Calgary and across Southern Alberta – Cornish Flakes cereal and a number of other items on the Co-op Stampeders Game Day Approved product line.
Stamps running back Jon Cornish was on hand at Fanfest at McMahon Stadium on Saturday to autograph boxes of the new cereal that bears his name and photo as part of the official launch of the product line. Through the new partnership between Co-op and the Stampeders, a portion of sales from 15 co-branded, specially labeled food and general merchandise items will be donated to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.
“This is a big win for everyone,” said Ken Woo, Calgary Co-op General Manager, on behalf of Co-ops across Southern Alberta. “Not only are football fans and Co-op shoppers buying quality products and showing their team pride, they’re also contributing to a healthier future for our children and families because of their purchases of Game Day Approved products.”
Other items joining Cornish’s cereal and his RB-Q Chips on the Co-op/ Stampeders Game Day Approved 2014 roster are two water products, sunflower seeds, bags of ice, a chocolate bar, sliced bread, hamburger buns, peanuts in the shell, trail mix, reusable party cups, a picnic cooler and a collector’s edition football.
“We’re very excited about this partnership with Co-op stores,” said Stampeders president Gordon Norrie. “This is a fun – and tasty – ay for Stampeders fans to show their pride in the Red and White. It’s especially satisfying to know that this will result in the raising of funds for such a wonderful organization as the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.”
Money raised in support of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation through the Co-op/Stampeders Game Day Approved partnership is in addition to Co-op’s $825,000 gift over five years to the Foundation announced last year.
Earlier this week, Co-op announced that it was expanding its partnership with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, featuring Chris Getzlaf and Darian Durant, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers, featuring Nick Moore. Co-op also announced a new partnership with the Edmonton Eskimos featuring Mike Reilly.
With the constant scowl Cornish has on his face, I’m surprised to not see a Calvin pissing in his cornflakes on the box
The meat Department should sell Cornish Hen's. Jon's antics and cry baby attitude on field remind me of a hen.
With Sheets gone (for now) Cornish is the #1 running back in the CFL and likely headed for a 2000 yard year- not bad for a Canadian running back. Good move by the Co-op for sure.
Not a bad idea at all. Get the CFL name out there and get some more interest in the game. They should be doing more of this in TO, Montreal and Vancouver.
Should it be his face on the box? The fans in Regina got to see him in another pose so I wonder if that will be the boxes they sell in border towns like Lloydminister?
Jon Cornish of theCalgary Stampeders has been the #1 CFL running-back since he came into the league bar none. Impressive young man, highly Intelligent, positive role model/ambassador for professional sports In Canada. Hope they flood the Co-op market of Saskatchewan with those cornflakes, that would be absolutely awesome !

His face is on the front of the box, "butt" what Rider fans got to see is on the "backside."

Wonder if they will ever get around to including CFL coaches and executives in the fundraising. Would not Taman Taters, Austin Mini-wheats, or Hufnagel Bagels be big sellers?
Probably taste like crap!
I don't blame him for getting in on these sorts of deals while the getting is good. He's nearing the end of this career. Probably wont break a thousand yards this year.
Not bad for a 'catch colt'

Maybe I'm mistaken but I've always thought of a cereal box athlete as more of an upstanding individual. Yes Cornish has had a couple years of good statistics. Yet his immature behaviour of showing his ass to a section of fans of both male and female aged anywhere from 7 to 70 tells me he is not deserved of this notoriety. Again yes he is Canadian but that dosent make his unprofessional and immature behaviour ok. I'm sorry but this guy wrecked any chances of being an idol when his immature stupidity stripped him of his pants and his dignity.… Read more »
He must be "over the moon" with this announcement. Oh well in his case I guess it's better to turn the other "cheek". Oh wait I believe he did. The Co-Op should be ashamed of putting his face on anything but toilet paper. makes me wonder why I'm a member.
To the Stamps fan on here, quit trying so hard. We know how good Cornish is, his #s speak for themselves.
Like the old saying goes, if you have to keep telling people how (rich, smart, powerful, cool, etc) you are, then you probably aren't.
This in only good news for the CFL, getting their brand out there. As much as we keep this league going, we still need other teams to beat to win our championships.
Shows who the model franchise now is in the CFL, following our lead. Imitation is the best form of flattery.
I hear if you turn the Cornish Flakes box to the backside, it shows his butt crack with his pants falling down.
Cornish is likely headed for 2000 yards this season? LOLOLOLOL!
Role Model ??? hardly…..
How about a new product; Cory Sheets Pot Stickers!
Cornish rocks! He will have a big year in 2014 and the Stamps will take away the Cup from the Riders. This you can be sure of my friends.
