STANIOWSKI BOBBLEHEAD NIGHT
The Regina Pats Hockey Club announced today this year’s featured player for the Knight Archer Insurance Bobblehead Night is Pats goaltending great Ed Staniowski.
The Ed Staniowski Bobbleheads will be available on the concourse at the Pats’ next home game Friday, January 24th against the Prince George Cougars for a minimum donation. The proceeds will be donated to the Soldier On Fund.
Soldier On was founded in 2006 to empower retired and serving members of the Canadian Forces with an illness or injury to accept their new normal by adopting an active lifestyle through participation in physical, recreational or sporting activities.
Staniowski was a member of the Pats from 1971-75 and is the Pats’ all-time leader in games played by a goaltender (206) and saves (6024). The Moose Jaw, SK native backstopped the Pats to their third Memorial Cup victory in the 1973-74 season when he posted a 39-12-9 record along with a 3.05 GAA and 0.900 save percentage. The following year, Staniowski was the first player to win the CHL’s Player of the Year award.
Staniowski was drafted 27th Overall in the 1975 NHL Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues and played a 219 game NHL career with St. Louis, Winnipeg and Hartford.
Following his retirement from hockey in 1985, Staniowski served as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. Staniowski’s military career brought him to Afghanistan, Africa, the Middle East, Bosnia, Egypt, Israel and Cyprus. The former Pat will be in attendance at Friday’s game and will drop the puck for a ceremonial faceoff.

All the best to Steady Eddie.
Yet another excuse why people will not be in attendance as Vince Neil formerly of Motley Crue has a show at Casion Regina.
