Success continues for the Toronto Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays took the Tampa Bay Rays “behind the woodshed, and to quote Craig Mactavish: pulled their pants down and gave them a spanking,” said Rod Pedersen on today’s show about last night’s baseball game.
It was a great start for the Blue Jays winning 8-1 in game one of this series against the Tampa Bay Rays. Some key highlights include Alex Manoah pitching eight shut-out innings, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hitting his 45th home run of the season, Teoscar Hernández having his first five-hit game, and Bo Bichette hitting his 24th home run. We could say the Jays are sitting pretty at 12-1 in the month of September, but SportsNet Central Anchor Ken Reid is not entirely convinced yet.
“If this season was a movie, this would be the montage,” said Reid on today’s show. “Every movie has a montage where the main character just starts kicking butt and everything goes well. Everything is going well now, but when the montage ends, that is when reality hits. Are they going to end up top? Or is it going to end poorly?”
Reid believes if the Jays can get over the wild card and their bullpen holds up, this ‘movie’ has the potential for a happy ending.
It was only yesterday Rod Pedersen and Darren Dupont said the Jays performance against the division leaders would be telling if the team truly has what it takes. After last night’s win, Rod and Darren agree that this team is here to play. The duo is excited to see what the team does in tonight’s game and the remaining 18 games in this season.
