Jozy Altidore scored in the 67th minute and Victor Vazquez added a stoppage-time goal as Toronto F-C completed a record-breaking season with a 2-nil win over Seattle in the M-L-S Cup final. The victory avenges a penalty shootout loss to the Sounders in last year’s championship game. Altidore earned the game’s MVP honours.

Jujhar Khaira scored twice in a game for the first time in his NHL career as the Edmonton Oilers downed the Montreal Canadiens 6-2. The Oilers chased listless Montreal starter Carey Price 2:24 into the second period after their fourth goal on only 13 shots. Antti Niemi allowed two more goals on 27 shots. Edmonton has won four of its last six games.

Tyler Bozak scored two goals, and the Toronto Maple Leafs held on for a 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Connor Brown and James van Riemsdyk scored in the first 1:42 of the game before Bozak added his first later in the period. Mitch Marner had three assists for the Maple Leafs, who’ve won five of their last seven.

Brayden Point scored 36 seconds into overtime and the Tampa Bay Lightning completed a perfect four-game homestand with a 4-3 victory over the Winnipeg Jets. Yanni Gourde, Mikhail Sergachev and Nikita Kucherov also scored for Tampa Bay. Andrew Copp, Kyle Connors and Nikolaj Ehlers scored for Winnipeg, which has lost three straight for the first time this season.

Mike McEwen posted a 6-4 win over Brad Gushue to advance to the men’s final at the Roar of the Rings Olympic curling trials. McEwen will play Kevin Koe in Sunday’s final. Earlier, Rachel Homan defeated Winnipeg’s Jennifer Jones 6-3 to lock up a spot in the women’s final against Chelsea Carey.

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield has won the Heisman Trophy, completing a climb from walk-on to one of the most accomplished players in the history of college football. The Sooners star won a lopsided vote to become the sixth Oklahoma player to the win Heisman. Mayfield is the third player to win the Heisman heading to the College Football Playoff.
