NHL: Sven Baertschi scored twice, Ryan Miller made 41 saves and the Canucks ended a four-game losing streak by holding on for a 4-3 win over the Kings in L-A. Nikolay Goldobin scored in his Canucks debut and Bo Horvat had three assists as Vancouver won in regulation for just the second time in its last nine games.

Connor McDavid had a goal and an assist as the Oilers started an eight-game homestand on solid footing with a 4-3 victory over the Red Wings. Zack Kassian, Jordan Eberle and Patrick Maroon also scored for Edmonton.

Winnipeg’s top guns were on full display against the Avalanche. Blake Wheeler and Nikolah Ehlers each had a goal and two assists as the Jets downed Colorado 6-1. Patrik Laine scored his rookie-leading 32nd goal while Mark Scheifele added his 27th of the season.

BRIER: Saskatchewan’s Adam Casey is 0-1 entering Sunday’s Day 2 of the Tim Hortons Brier in St. John, NF. Casey fell 6-5 to Manitoba in Saturday’s opening draw.

MLB: Miguel Sano homered, singled and drove in two runs for Minnesota in a 6-2 spring training win over Toronto. Drew Stubbs drove in two with a double and Max Kepler doubled twice. Starter Ervin Santana gave up five hits and a walk, but got through three innings scoreless.
Toronto starter Casey Lawrence allowed a run on two hits and a walk over two innings.

UFC: Tyron Woodley retained his UFC welterweight title with a desultory majority decision over Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson in their rematch at UFC 209 on Saturday night.
Alistair Overeem also stopped Mark Hunt in the third round of an entertaining heavyweight bout at T-Mobile Arena, and Rashad Evans debuted at middleweight with a split-decision upset loss to 39-year-old Australian judoka Daniel Kelly.
Khris Middleton scored a season-high 24 points, Giannis Antetokounmpo added 21 and the Bucks beat the Raptors 101-94 at home. Toronto had beaten Milwaukee seven straight times before the loss. Serge Ibaka had 19 points and Cory Joseph added 14 for the Raptors.

NBA: Atlanta Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer was suspended one game without pay by the NBA for making contact with a referee. Budenholzer was yelling at Brian Forte from behind with 2:42 remaining in the third quarter when he bumped into the referee during Atlanta’s 135-130 loss to Cleveland on Friday night.
