The Toronto Maple Leafs have a three-game winning streak for the first time this season thanks to a stellar outing by James Reimer. Reimer made 43 saves in his seventh consecutive start as the Leafs beat Vancouver 4-2 at Air Canada Centre. James van Riemsdyk, P-A Parenteau, Shawn Matthias and Joffrey Lupul scored for Toronto.

Nathan MacKinnon scored goals 13 seconds apart in a three-goal Colorado first period and the Avalanche jumped on a shaky Mike Condon to defeat the Montreal Canadiens 6-1. Mikhail Grigorenko also scored a goal and set up both of MacKinnon’s markers as Avs coach Patrick Roy was victorious in a return to the Bell Centre

Calle Jarnkrok scored twice and Pekka Rinne made 20 saves to lead the Nashville Predators to a 7-0 win over the Winnipeg Jets. Rinne recorded his second shutout of the season and 38th of his career. Earlier, the New York Rangers topped Ottawa 2-1 in a shootout. On the west coast, the L.A. Kings downed the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 to end the Oilers’ road trip at 1-3-0.

The Regina Pats (8-8-1) host the Lethbridge Hurricanes Sunday at 4:00 pm in the Brandt Centre on 620 CKRM. Regina is 1-1-0 on their current four game homestand.

CIS FOOTBALL
Michael O’Connor threw two touchdown strikes to Marcus Davis to lead UBC to an upset 34-26 victory over the top-ranked Dinos for the Hardy Cup.
O’Connor was 27 of 40 passing for 374 yards and an interception to go along with his two TD tosses.
Running back Trevor Casey accounted for the other Thunderbirds’ touchdown while Quinn van Gylswyk was perfect on four field-goal attempts, including one from 46 yards out.
Calgary quarterback Andrew Buckley completed 31-of-43 passes for 447 yards and a touchdown. Running back Mercer Timmis had 111 yards on the ground and one score.
Blake Nill’s Thunderbirds move on to face St. Francis Xavier in the Uteck Bowl next Saturday.
