Calgary’s winning streak is over. The Flames dropped a 3-2 decision to San Jose to end a four-game winning streak. Patrick Marleau broke a tie in the third period for the Sharks. Logan Couture also had a good night, scoring once and setting up Marleau’s winner.

It just wasn’t Ryan Miller’s night. The Canucks goaltender allowed four goals on 14 shots as they fell 5-2 to Toronto. His counterpart Jonathan Bernier, however, was solid making 44 saves in his eighth straight start. Joffrey Lupul had a goal and an assist for the Leafs.

Around the NHL, Montreal lost its third straight to Dallas, 4-1. Sven Andrighetto scored his first goal in his first N-H-L game for the Habs. Earlier in the day, Christian Ehrhoff scored late as Pittsburgh edged the Senators 3-2.

In the NBA, Golden State beat Chicago 112-102, but not without some controversy. Bulls point guard Derrick Rose wore a black “I Can’t Breathe” T-shirt during warmups. The shirt references Eric Garner, who died in July after a police officer placed him in a chokehold during an arrest. A grand jury decided this week it would not indict the officer. A videotape recording of the arrest showed Garner gasping, “I can’t breathe” during the fatal encounter.

The finals are all set at the Canada Cup curling tournament. Winnipeg’s Mike McEwen used the hammer in the 11th end to score one and defeat Glenn Howard 5-4 in the men’s semifinal. McEwen will face Olympic champion Brad Jacobs in the championship game. Edmonton’s Val Sweeting advanced to the women’s final after edging Heather Nedohin, 7-6. Sweeting will face Rachel Homan in the final.

The Road to the Grey Cup for the Riders would start with the signing of free agent Kory Sheets, followed by the addition of Lapolice as the offensive coordinator. Also, if Dressler signs with another team, entice Montreal's Green to sign with the Green by offering a lot of Green.
