Saskatchewan’s Matt Dunstone will take on Alberta’ Brendan Bottcher in the semifinals at the men’s curling championship Sunday afternoon (1:30 pm Sask Time, TSN). Bottcher is playing for a fourth consecutive final appearance. He lost his last three final appearances. The winner of the semifinal matchup will meet Kevin Koe’s Wild Card 2 team.

Hurricanes 4 Rebels 3

Justin Hall scored twice while Alex Cotton scored in overtime to give the Lethbridge Hurricanes a 4-3 win over the Red Deer Rebels in Lethbridge Saturday.

The Hurricanes were down 3-1 partway through the second period after allowing three unanswered goals. But they scored twice to end the period tied at three goals apiece.

Cotton needed 53 seconds to score the game-winning goal in overtime. Alex Thacker also scored for Lethbridge (2-2-0-0).

Jace Isley, Josh Tarzwell, and Ben King scored for Red Deer (1-3-2-0).

BLADES 4 BRONCOS 2

REGINA – Brandon Lisowsky scored twice to give the Saskatoon Blades a 4-2 win over the Swift Current Broncos. Kyle Crnkovic and Tristen Robins also scored for the Blades. Raphael Pelletier and Josh Davies scored for the Broncos.

WHEAT KINGS 3 ICE 2

REGINA – Jake Chiasson scored the game-winning goal in the second period of a 3-2 Brandon Wheat Kings win over the Winnipeg ICE. Brett Hyland and Braden Schneider also scored for Brandon. Conor Geekie and Jakin Smallwood scored for Winnipeg.

TIGERS 4 HITMEN 2

MEDICINE HAT, AB-Nick McCarry scored twice for Medicine Hat in a 4-2 win over the Calgary Hitmen Saturday. Eric Van Impe and Cole Clayton also scored for the Tigers. Josh Prokop and Zac Funk scored for the Hitmen.

The Toronto Blue Jays return to action Sunday when they meet the New York Yankees. Toronto defeated the Baltimore Orioles 5-0 Saturday thanks to strong pitching from Robbie Ray and scoring from Cavan Biggio. The Yankees defeated the Pirates 7-5.

Lee Westwood enters the final day of The Players Championship at Sawgrass with a two-stroke lead over Bryson DeChambeau. Corey Conners is tied for 22nd as the highest-ranked Canadian in the field. Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor will also tee off Sunday.

As the North Division turns. The Vancouver Canucks, Winnipeg Jets, and Calgary Flames were all winners last night. Vancouver edged the Edmonton Oilers 2-1. Darryl Sutter remains perfect as Flames coach as they beat the Montreal Canadiens 3-1. Toronto now has just one win in their last four games after a 5-2 loss to Winnipeg.

Genie Bouchard was unable to win at the Guadalajara Open final in Mexico against Spain’s Sara Sorribes Tormo. It was the Montrealer’s eighth ever W-T-A Final appearance. She is now 1-7. She last won a tournament in 2014.

LaMelo Ball scored 23 points and added nine rebounds as the Charlotte Hornets defeated the Toronto Raptors 114-104 Saturday night. The Raptors were without a number of players including Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam. Coach Nick Nurse says the group of players unavailable yesterday will likely be unavailable against the Chicago Bulls later tonight.
