The Blues defeated the Minnesota Wild 6-4 in Minneapolis on Jordan Kyrou’s two goals and two assists in the Winter Classic. The official faceoff temperature was minus-21 degrees Celsius. It was the 33rd modern outdoor game in NHL history.

The Winnipeg Jets are playing an NHL game today for the first time in two weeks. The Jets play the Golden Knights in Vegas, exactly 14 days after beating the St. Louis Blues 4-2 at home. The Jets have had five games postponed since then because of rising COVID-19 cases across the league. Later the Calgary Flames are in Chicago to play the Blackhawks.

The Manitoba Moose resume their American Hockey League schedule today. The Moose play the Iowa Wild this afternoon. The league’s COVID-19 situation saw the Moose’s last four games postponed. Manitoba’s last match was a 4-1 loss to Iowa on December 17th.

Baylor’s Al Walcott set a Sugar Bowl record with a 96-yard interception return, Monaray Baldwin raced 48 yards for the go-ahead score on an end around, and the sixth-ranked Bears beat No. 8 Mississippi 21-7 Saturday night as injured Rebels quarterback Matt Corral watched from the sideline on crutches.

In Pasadena, Buckeyes QB C.J. Stroud capped his record-setting offensive day by leading a 56-yard drive ending in Noah Ruggles’ 19-yard field goal with nine seconds to play, and No. 7 Ohio State beat No. 10 Utah 48-45 on Saturday night in the wild 108th edition of the Rose Bowl.
Stroud passed for a school-record 573 yards and a record-tying six touchdowns for the Buckeyes (11-2), who won the Granddaddy of Them All for the second time in four years.

There are two weeks left in the NFL season, beginning with a full slate of games today. The Buffalo Bills can clinch a playoff spot with a victory over the Atlanta Falcons. The San Francisco 49ers can also clinch with a win over the Houston Texans. Meanwhile the playoff-contending Indianapolis Colts are hoping to have quarterback Carson Wentz back to face the Las Vegas Raiders. Wentz was activated from the COVID-19 list yesterday.
