OILERS 3 SENATORS 1

EDMONTON, Alta. (AP) — Zach Hyman had his third hat trick of the season and fourth in the NHL to help Edmonton win its seventh straight.

Stuart Skinner made 29 saves as the Oilers improved to 15-3-0 in their last 18 games after a 5-12-1 start. Evan Bouchard had three assists.

Hyman completed the hat trick on a power play with 2:50 to go off a feed from Connor McDavid. Hyman has 25 goals this season, seven in the last six games.

Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch became the first coach in NHL history to have two seven-game winning streaks in his first 25 games.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Travis Konecny scored a tiebreaking, short-handed goal early in the third period, and the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Calgary Flames 3-2 on Saturday to stop a four-game NHL slide.

CANADIENS 4 RANGERS 3 (SO)

MONTREAL (AP) — Samuel Montembeault made 45 saves and stopped all three shootout attempts, Cole Caufield scored the lone goal in the tiebreaker and Montreal held off the New York Rangers.

Brendan Gallagher, Sean Monahan, Joel Armia scored to give Montreal a 3-0 lead early in the second period.

WILD 4 BLUE JACKETS 3 (OT)

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Marco Rossi scored 3:05 into overtime and Minnesota rallied from three one-goal deficits to beat Columbus, giving goalie Marc-Andre Fleury his 551st career win. Cole Sillinger had three goals for his second career hat trick for the Jackets.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Brayden Schenn scored in the fifth round of the shootout to give St. Louis the win.

DALLAS (AP) — Filip Forsberg scored two goals early in the third period and Nashville beat Dallas.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Zemgus Girgensons jammed a loose puck past Tristan Jarry late in the third period and Rasmus Dahlin added an empty netter to lift Buffalo. Alex Tuch also scored for Buffalo, which won for the third time in four games.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Jack Eichel and Nic Roy each scored two goals and Vegas won for just the second time in eight games.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson each scored twice, Quinn Hughes had three assists and Vancouver beat New Jersey.

MAPLE LEAFS 4 SHARKS 1

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — William Nylander had two goals and an assist, Martin Jones made 23 saves and Toronto handed San Jose its 11th straight loss. Mitchell Marner and Calle Jarnkrok also scored and Tyler Bertuzzi had two assists to help the Maple Leafs sweep a three-game California swing. They are 11-3-5 on the road and 20-10-7 overall. The teams will meet again Tuesday in Toronto.

BOSTON (AP) — Trent Frederic scored two goals, David Pastrnak added his team-leading 24th and Boston beat Tampa Bay.

PANTHERS 8 AVALANCHE 4

DENVER (AP) — Sam Reinhart scored three times for his seventh career hat trick, and Florida won its seventh straight.

Reinhart has 10 goals during the Panthers’ win streak, including three multigoal games. Sergei Bobrovsky made 23 saves for his sixth straight win during the streak.

Aleksander Barkov had four assists in his 700th NHL game for Florida. Carter Verhaeghe had two goals and an assist, and Matthew Tkachuk had a goal and three assists. Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Kevin Stenlund also scored.

 

 

WHL

REGINA, Sask. — Zackary Shantz scored at 2:55 of overtime as the Regina Pats edged the visiting Victoria Royals 2-1.

Tye Spencer also scored for the Pats (14-19-4-2), who were outshot 29-28.

Escalus Burlock scored for the Royals (23-13-1-2).

BRANDON, Man. – It has been a challenging season for the rebuilding Vancouver Giants, but they looked mighty impressive on Saturday with a 4-0 Western Hockey League road victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings at Westoba Place.

Justin Ivanusec, London Hoilett, Ty Halaburda and Tyler Thorpe scored for the Giants, who improved to 15-21-2-0, but remain fourth in the tough five-team B.C. Division.

BRONCOS 7 WARRIORS 6

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. — Josh Filmon scored at 13:54 of the third period to snap a 6-6 tie as the Swift Current Broncos edged the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors 7-6.

Luke Mistelbacher and Ty Coupland each scored twice for the Broncos (20-15-2-2), while Connor Gabriel and Connor Hvidston netted singles.

Atley Calvert scored twice for the Warriors (22-15-0-2), while Ethan Semeniuk, Rilen Kovacevic, Jagger Firkus and Martin Rysavy added singles.

EVERETT, Wash. — Julius Miettinen scored twice as the Everett Silvertips beat the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds 4-2.

WENATCHEE, Wash. — Kenta Isogai scored three goals as the Wenatchee Wild defeated the visiting Kelowna Rockets 6-3.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Josh Davies scored the game-winning goal with one minute left in the third period as the Portland Winterhawks edged the visiting Prince George Cougars 4-3.

RAIDERS 2 BLADES 1 (SO)

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. — Oli Chenier scored the lone goal of a seven-round shootout as the Prince Albert Raiders edged the visiting Saskatoon Blades 2-1.

TIGERS 12 AMERICANS 1

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. — Hunter St. Martin scored three goals as the Medicine Hat Tigers trounced the visiting Tri-City Americans 12-1.

 

 

PWHL

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Maddie Rooney had a 24-save shutout as Minnesota blanked Montreal 3-0 on Saturday in Professional Women’s Hockey League action.

Grace Zumwinkle had a hat trick for Minnesota (2-0-0), putting her third goal into an empty net with 2:47 left in the third.

Anne-Renee Desbiens stopped 19-of-21 shots in net for Montreal (1-1-0).

It was the largest crowd to ever attend a professional women’s hockey game, with 13,316 fans packed into Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minn.

The crowd surpassed the 8,318 that sold out Tuesday’s PWHL game between Ottawa and Montreal at The Arena at TD Place in Canada’s capital city.

CFL

The Edmonton Football Club Alumni Association confirmed the passing of former CFL punter Burke Dales at age 46 over the weekend. The Collingwood, ON product played nine seasons in the CFL (between 2002-2013) with Calgary, Edmonton and Montreal, winning a Grey Cup in 2008.
